Even in consumer space, Markdown has a strong foothold as a way to convey rich formatting options in plain text while still remaining human-readable.
TextEdit.app wouldn’t take the place of feature-rich editors like Obsidian or Ulysses, but it would be a gateway to them. And handy for quick editing

A small, modest proposal to make vanilla macOS even more useful:
The built-in TextEdit.app should default to plain text instead of rich text on new documents, and create Markdown syntax with the WYSIWYG formatting controls. Markdown rendering on by default. Support rich text as an option.
Make sure to check out our latest Globe News Report on our YouTube @91.1theglobe. We take a look into the closing of the Mennonite Historical Society.
We follow the Globe staff on their trip to New York City.
We’ll sit down with illusionist Vitaly.

Ugh. They said they weren’t abandoning the Mac Pro, and then gave it like 3 updates over the last 6 years.
Every time I have to buy a Thunderbolt PCIe chassis and Deck Link card at Goshen College it kills me that I can’t just… put the cards *inside* the computer where they’re designed to go…
United this week:
I give you permission. Tell them Grant said it’s ok, don’t worry about it!
On #ConnectGoshenDay, I should explain how my GC education was foundational to my career, and that supporting Goshen College allows today's students the same opportunities.
But more importantly, giving $18.89 lets you name a squirrel anything you want. Give today!

@globeradio.org this could make for a great question of the day! "If you need to make a big purchase (plane trips, TV, major event tickets), are you using your phone or a computer?"
Somebody said millennials usually use their laptops (instead of smartphones) for major purchases, including booking flights. I can’t stop thinking about this.
Holy crap I hadn't ever thought about inflation adjusting gas prices!
I hate how many of Goshen's crosswalk lights won't ever cycle green unless the beg button is pressed.
I'd still want the button for pedestrians to trigger the cycle just like the car sensor, but why *not* give peds a green every cycle?? If it takes too long to cross, that's not the ped's fault!
Happy 317 Day
Its crazy to think about how different Downtown Indianapolis has chanced since 2009
hear me out: instead of widening this road, what if you diverted the funds for this and future maintenance costs to extend the Monon Corridor to Cedar Lake
Ladies and gentlemen... the weekend. (also: you are important and are not alone 🧡)
Do I know anyone on here who’s done motion graphic design for video, or knows someone who does? I’d love to explore building a library of branded templates and building block elements from an existing brand. #videoproduction #avtweeps
It’s hard not to laugh when Elkhart County natives still describe this area as rural. There are a few pockets of farmland, but it seems everyone who lives here only sees it as a future industrial park. anything not in service of future industry must give way.
I just watched them upgrade a rural highway connecting small towns from a standard two lane to a divided four lane and - surprise! - People now fly at 90 mph past homes! More cars than ever! More rural farmland destroyed, more RV parking lots built.
Just outstanding short term decision-making…
Awesome. Just found out that a major highway through Goshen is slated for a state upgrade from three lanes to five, severely impacting neighborhoods and the high school.
Never mind the fact INDOT doesn’t have enough money to maintain the lane-miles it already has, gotta make more!
Absolutely wacky weather right now at Goshen College in Goshen, IN. It hailed long and hard enough to actually build up on the parking lot, and even when the rain started coming back the hail got smaller and smaller, maybe more like big grapple. It lasted probably 7-10 minutes!

Praise be
The ejection video is just… well it’s something!

Well folks, Indiana’s newest electrified railroad will officially open on March 30, 2026.
One thing they don’t warn you about buying some property in the country: the urge to buy a Tractor come on strong and fast… could all my problems in life be solved by a 2025r? Who’s to say!
For real, shoutout to Cortado Goshen for the new great space downtown, and @avixa.bsky.social for finally organizing your on-demand training into a CTS Exam pathway!
Kids to school early + the new schmanzy coffee shop in Goshen = time to do some CTS Exam studying before work, with avocado toast and a cafe miel latte to boot. Not my worst idea!
It's not quite "some of you may die..." territory, but it sure gives those vibes when you zoom out far enough.
It's SSL certificate rotation time at work this week. I'm almost through my responsibilities, but I nerd-sniped myself with two servers in particular - last year I wrote a helper shell script to make this easier, but I can't help but try and improve it instead of move on!
Ugh, thanks past-me...
