One improvement I would *love* for Apple’s App Stores: clearly distinguish between “in-app purchases” and “subscription required.”

Better yet, move the latter under Paid Apps, with the “Get” button changed to reflect their base subscription’s terms (like “$9.99/mo” or “$0.99/wk”).

The current run of Ultimate X-Men is the only American comic series my wife and daughter are interested in reading, and it’s by Peach—so it’s not really an exception to what you said: www.marvel.com/comics/serie...

It’s so old and common that we see God in the Old Testament needing to correct it in his own prophet (Jonah 3:10-4:5,10-11).

“And should I not pity Nineveh?”

“…like replacing sugar with salt in a Coke recipe” — my mom did this once when making a cake as a child. From all accounts it was certainly memorable

A liberating realization: nowhere does the New Testament subscribe to (or sanction) the cult of leadership that is so pervasive in corporatized societies

I really appreciate you describing it in this way. For the past few years I’ve been trying to reorient away from that mindset to something more mature, and I keep bumping up against people who act as if “anything less than 110% is the same as 0%.” You framed it here better than I’ve been able to. 🙂

I picked up a copy of “Moral Man” years ago and only read the first few chapters. (Prior to that, my only exposure to Niebuhr was his Serenity Prayer.)

I was really chewing on what I read there, just got distracted with other things. I gotta go back and finish it. Thank you both for reminding me!

When I first saw progress bars on ads (maybe it was a YouTube sponsor segment?) I thought it was an ingenious Accessibility feature.

It’s saddening to see something like that be warped like this into just another advertising mind game. 🥺

I’ve started seeing mobile ads that have a progress bar, but it’s not linear—like, the bar reaches 50% in the first second, then 75% after five seconds, and it continues slowing until it’s barely moving at all.

Where did this dark pattern come from? It’s kinda bumming me out.

a group of people dancing in front of a bet sign Alt: a group of people on stage with hands raised stands behind American Gospel singer Kirk Franklin. He turns from facing them to look at the audience, holding his arm out and moving his fingers in a “come here” or “bring it here” kind of gesture

chuckling over the implication that VeggieTales is the artist, and Phil & Mike the art 🤣

Skibidi toilet is so dumb, unlike our smart, sophisticated millennial humor (looping audio of Sean Connery saying "you're the man now dog")

You cannot insist that the baby in the manger was a gift while claiming a baby on welfare is a burden.

You cannot praise the family who fled political violence into Egypt while condemning a family who flees political violence into America.

I try to always be polite when using GPT tools—partly because I hope it will nudge the algorithm toward more helpful & polite responses… but more than a bit of my motivation is:

When did you realize that Herbie was never actually an elf—that boy is 100% human. Look at those round ears!

If I were the archenemy of truth and righteousness, I’d make sure the Christian leaders who are most contentious and obnoxious get amplified while the promoters of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control get muted.

Playing a Christmas playlist in Spotify on the TV, and saw something I’ve never seen before…. Who is the dog? Is this gonna be the new #MandelaEffect?

Our first #snow this year wasn't much, but it partially covered the ground for a couple hours so I'll take it. 😄

I’ve been lurking—hesitant to really post anything just yet—but let me tell you what I’ve been doing here in the meantime.

Whenever cute photos of bunnies cross my path in the Discover feed, I save them to send to my daughter when I want to brighten her day. 😇
