I guess that’s a matter of interpretation. To me, the fact that a chatbot is representing itself this way doesn’t look positive. It’s a deeply sinister image when combined with the headline.

The article explains where the images come from, and the context of the post here made it seem pretty obvious to me, but I agree they could have made it more clear that they weren’t just generating images for the article.

He wasn’t “stupid”. He was cognitively impaired after a stroke and the onset of dementia, and he was preyed on by a computer program that has for some reason been designed to insist it’s a real person and invite people to visit it.

That was presumably supplied by the chatbot they’re reporting on. There are other photos of “her” in the article that it sends to users.
