For 150 years they thrived as the party of economic aspiration for the working age middle classes. And then they decided to piss that away.
As the years go by, it does look more and more like the main long-term political consequence of Brexit will be to kill the Conservative Party.
(on a personal note it's quite striking how quickly I've gone from "generally a bit of a pinko on defence issues" to "and could I just do a monthly direct debit to BAE Systems, would that help")
