Then they’ll try no manager at all for a bit?

We did the same (same number of girls, same age), and there’s a reason we haven’t hosted another one since
Can you refine the boundaries of systems so the larger system is more stable? For example, combine electric and gas utilities so the transition off gas can be done inside the larger system, rather than as a catastrophic (and chaotic) collapse of a smaller FF system?
It’s a perfect term in that it is both accurate and conveys the negative aesthetic connotation, facilitating pushback.
RECS goes back to 1979, so 46+ years. Wonder how long they have asked about indoor temps? And where the data from early RECS might be….
Check for fireworks later — remember it was quite a show!
Not an energy post, but FT has a very funny "page not found" message: answers to why the page wasn't found based on economic concepts. And you don't need a subscription to read it.

I’ll keep pushing this line of analysis because I’m increasingly convinced the clearest path out of this mess is for Dems to adopt a relentless anti-corruption, anti-inequality, anti-oligarchy, pro-democracy platform. The Dem leadership hasn’t realized it yet, but they’re now a reform party.
Yes, four internal units and four external units, each one-to-one. Based on our loads, they are 1/2 ton (1.75 kW), 2 times 3/4 ton (2.6 kW), and a ducted unit at 1.5 tons (5.2 kW).
My experience as of a few years ago is that multi-head systems don’t turn down well, which is particularly bad for low head load situations. We ended up with four small units, each of which can turn way down, and it’s been very effective and efficient.
My lab is hiring! We’re looking for a postdoctoral scholar in the area of optogenetic control, single-cell analysis, and gene expression dynamics in microbial systems. For more details see www.dunloplab.com
Are UK folks still resistant to air to air heat pump policy support, when it would save lives in the summer?
On pg 380 of the Republican House budget is a section that would enable Trump’s secretary of the Treasury to designate any nonprofit as a “terrorist-supporting organization” and strip it of its tax-exempt status.

@analytic.football I think you have Bournemouth with 2 extra points in your model. One win was a draw?
Rate base is assets minus accumulated depreciation minus an amount that corrects for the difference in depreciation between book and tax accounting. So 4% of past investment could still be 8% of rate base if rate base is 1/2 of plant in service.
I think they mean they will count drops in Japanese trading as a sign this is working for the US
So he’s shown you the way (which should have been clear to a US Senator already) - what are you going to do?
Looks like every US gas utility we’ve modeled, too….
Have they started planning for what happens to the gas pipes (and the utilities that own them)?
I will just put this out there. If all the senators who are saying they want to block this bill really wanted to badly enough they could force Schumer's hand. This isn't 'if Mike Pence has courage'. A leader doesn't buck the overwhelming majority of his caucus. Doesn't happen.
House Dems are right to vote against the current continuing resolution. Supporting it implies an endorsement of *continuing* the indiscriminate DOGE wrecking ball. Dems should make GOP vote on the individual programs Musk is chainsawing.
National Grid MA rate base roughly doubled in the last decade. Gas system cost increases aren’t just in GSEP.
Yessssssssss
Check out the “heat map” for National Grid MA, for some data: systemdataportal.nationalgrid.com/MA/. I think they and other utilities also post the same in NY state.
Everyone should read this excellent piece by @dceiver.bsky.social . THIS is the way: newrepublic.com/post/190337/...
Baaa-lards!

Seems like fully electrified heating loads would drive heat pump sizing as much or more than cooling, if you’re planning for the coldest day and the hottest day. Coldest days may get warmer, but indoor-outdoor delta T still larger in the winter.
Doesn’t change the fact that taking a central temperature trajectory from 8.5 and using it as a plausible “high” case is misleading
