Three rows of hard neck garlic sprout from dark soil. Two strands of drip irrigation run between them. Some dry poplar tree leaves are scattered around the garlic sprouts.

With all sincerity, Elections Canada is a national treasure.

- Voting typically takes less than 15 minutes
- We make it easy for citizens to vote, without cumbersome registration hurdles
- We have every reason to trust that ballots will be counted fairly, and results reported swiftly

I was not prepared to care for a baby with an ear infection. Thank goodness she seems to be getting some relief now after 72 hours on antibiotics!

A 16x2 LCD screen counts up the time since my last BlueSky post. the screen reads:

“Last Bsky post”
“00:01:09”

Indicating 1 minute and 9 seconds have elapsed.

Well this is disappointing…

Just wait until they start smiling back! It’s a wonderful way to take a break when things are tough.

Finally found some time for my hobbies and immediately used it to make myself feel guilty about not having time for my hobbies. #esp32

The timers don’t need to count up individually, they just need to track the time stamp of the last time the event occurred. Then in the main loop I track the current time with the built in RTC and periodic NTP syncs. The display time is just the difference between the current and stored time!

It’s all C++. I’m using the arduino framework in platformio.org so that I can use VS Code. The timers are also a lot simpler than you’d expect!

A desktop timer that will track how long it’s been since various events occurred. Some will be manual, and triggered by the button. For example, time since I last drank some water. Others will be automatic based on some network event, like a time since last GitHub push.

A clock is a really close guess! It’s going to be a desktop timer that will track how long it’s been since certain events last occurred. Some of those events will respond to the buttons for reset, and I’m hoping to automate others automatically based on polling or webhooks.

A Freenove ESP32 WROOM microcontroller development board and GPIO expander connected to a breadboard. On the breadboard, circuits are wired to a photo-resistor, three buttons, and a 16x2 LCD display. The board is unpowered. The breadboard sits on top of red-brown wood surface.

Hey, I couldn’t spell November earlier today. Who am I to judge?

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

Have you ever typed out a word and thought “Nope that’s not right. It can’t be spelled that way.”

November. November…

It’s obviously correct. The internet confirms it. Sounding it out syllable by syllable checks out. Nope, it still doesn’t feel right…

Obsidian is incredibly useful and I love using it, by the way!

I’m spending entirely too much time porting my personal blog from Jekyll to Zola because I didn’t feel like setting up a Ruby environment on my new laptop.

It would have been faster to setup the Ruby environment.

At least I’m having fun, right?

It feels like X is on the MySpace arc in the microblogging segment. It’s huge and untouchable until suddenly it isn’t. All the cool people worth following move to a new platform, and it’s over.

Glad to be here, BlueSky! Hope you avoid becoming a Facebook!

I caved to the impulse. Hope it’s as fun as my original Arduino kit was back in 2011!
