I'll do ya one better, I tried to play the original Halo recently and I was totally alienated by the entire experience. It's like some weird US Army game??? but yes the theme is also hella overrated

And there it is:
In his first 100 days, Zohran Mamdani has:
-Delivered millions in restitution for workers cheated by gig companies
-Cracked down on predatory landlords
-Launched the first stage of a universal childcare program
-Fixed thousands of potholes in NYC streets
This is what leadership looks like.
Me! I can make the video game, what's your idea?
Oh no. Please... not an existential threat. Please don't price out the vast majority of players from games that rely on high-fidelity graphics. ( throws hand dramatically over forehead) Whatever shall we do. What would players play if they couldn't have Ultra Graphics Games. What would become of us.
to me it's genuinely disturbing how already deeply internalized the idea that a work of art that has more views on social media is better or more culturally worthwhile is at this point, and it's going to take a really long time to deprogram a lot of people from that.
Looking for a game design job at the moment. Hit me up if you have any leads! <3
Damn. A recruiter told me I have a real chance to work for Minecraft again, but Mojang changed the position at the last minute.
I haven't had work in months and that would have been job security. I'm a good art director, illustrator and 2D animator for games. Hire me please
Been thinking a lot about this fantastic video about "haptic" filmmaking, movies that have solidity and realness as opposed to the thin uncanniness of so many contemporary movies. This is something that Project Hail Mary really nails. It all *feels* solidly physical

I feel like that's a really sensible reaction to have. But I also feel like there's a lot of second-order effects downstream of this and I wonder if it's worth it. Maybe it'd be better to just watch a video of a dog reunited with their owner or something for warm fuzzy feelings.
hm. I kind of feel like, *don't* give me more stories like this. Stories like this are like stories about lottery winners. They're kind of just... misleading? Make games if you love making games but do not think of this as a real possibility.
Happy St. Patrick's Day, New York.
Awesome, thank you!
Hey all! I'm between gigs at the moment, looking for something in game design or technical game design (especially if it's using Unity). Let me know if you have any leads!

If America still had the rule of law, this would be the easiest prosecution ever, but we all know absolutely nothing will happen.
things every single republican president of your lifetime has done
- started a war in the middle east
- completely destroyed the economy
the reason they don’t want you to know about trans people is
you'll see how wonderful we are
how much we can love each other regardless
you’ll realize how small and scared they are
and that they’ll destroy countless people to maintain the illusion of control
that depends on you cowering at lies
This is a Nazi move. Stripping people of rights, invalidating their IDs, setting them up for criminalization and imprisonment.
If you don't support trans rights, you support fascism.
it's 2016: north carolina introduces a bill to ban trans people from using bathrooms safely. there's a national outcry; companies withdraw business up to and including the NCAA cancelling a publicized game. the bill fails.
it's 2026: kansas passes a law nullifying trans people's licenses. crickets.
from reddit r/ExperiencedDevs • 21h ago Tech-Cowboy An AI CEO finally said something honest (Meta Dax Raad from anoma.ly might be the only CEO speaking honestly about Al right now. His most recent take: "everyone's talking about their teams like they were at the peak of efficiency and bottlenecked by ability to produce code here's what things actually look like - your org rarely has good ideas. ideas being expensive to implement was actually helping - majority of workers have no reason to be super motivated, they want to do their 9-5 and get back to their life - they're not using Al to be 10x more effective they're using it to churn out their tasks with less energy spend - the 2 people on your team that actually tried are now flattened by the slop code everyone is producing, they will quit soon - even when you produce work faster you're still bottlenecked by bureaucracy and the dozen other realities of shipping something real - your CFO is like what do you mean each engineer now costs $2000 extra per month in LLM bills"
someone in AI fucked up and actually told the truth

Letterboxd screenshot Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) Watched by Branson Reese 28 Apr 2022 Abrams isn't a man so much as he's an avatar of cultural entropy. If you make something popular enough eventually you will die or sell it off and and a person in thick rimmed glasses whose main artistic vision is that he loves to have meetings will take it and sandblast it until it's nothing. I hate to see this happen here but maybe it's good that this happened. Maybe every franchise should collapse into a version of itself that makes shareholders nod and shake each others' hands. We should learn to speak in a language that rich people who don't dream can't comprehend.

He cannot be clearer. There is no difference to him between bombing random fishermen on boats and shooting Americans protesters in the face
CNN: "New data shows January was the lowest months for job cuts since the 2009 Great Recession...layoffs way up, hiring ways down. During the month of January, US-based employers announced just over 108,000 layoffs. That's roughly double January 2025. In fact, this is the highest since January 2009"
"ICE guys are pretty miserable. I don’t think morale is particularly high for them. They’re freezing, they’re getting shouted at. They can’t go anywhere without being tailed by 5 cars. They get out and immediately there's a crowd of 100 people shouting at them, blowing whistles as loud as they can."
Every once in awhile a Republican tears their skin mask off to reveal they are actually alien beings
