Given that Lilley’s GF is back in Ford’s office, I suspect ol’ Brian was hoping to get to use it on the weekends.

Fair Vote has some info about the effects of RB. They cite Australia’s issues with RB and show examples of how RB can actually create more disproportion than FPTP:
www.fairvote.ca/ranked-ballot/
Ironically, they would likely do even better under ranked ballots, as a straight majority is always unlikely. So second rank votes will almost always go to the moderate when either left or right are in the voter’s favour.
That said, fuck RB too. Proportional representation only.
Voila, juicy chicken breast. Obviously, brining can also reduce pathogens (and make chicken juicier and more flavourful). And sous vide can do wonders for meats. But not everyone has the time or budgets for those. But if you have the time to cook to 165ºF, you have the time to cook to 150ºF.
So get a probe thermometer to use while cooking. When the chicken hits 145°F, pull it from the heat.
Carry over cooking will cause the internal temp to rise above 150ºF (152ºF-153ºF) and because it stays above 150ºF for 1 minute, 12 seconds, it's the equivalent to the instant-death 165°F.
Ultimately, It's about reaching a temperature threshold that will reduce bacteria to safe levels and pasteurize instantly
(7-Log10 or better). Pasteurization can be done at lower temps like 150ºF (much better for chicken), if that temp is maintained for a period of time.
165ºF ultimately destroys chicken breast. It's always been a terrible idea to shoot for instant death readings for food safety. Why? Because depending on where your thermometer goes, there could be massive variance in temperature (especially if a frozen product hasn't thawed enough).
Culinary school grad and former chef-de-partie here to get nerdy and dirty here:
165 is way overkill for most meats.
But food safety orgs decided to aim for the lowest common denominator when it comes to killing bacteria (Salmonella and campylobacter are the biggies in chicken).
By all means boycott her books. She and her publishers are the only ones making money off them. But refusing to watch any HP movie or the show ignores the nuance that others far more talented and less bigoted than she have helped make it what it has become.
That said, the new HP series has been created after JK’s views were known, so there’s a tacit thumbs up from crew. But even then know that not all crew have the financial luxury of being able to turn down gigs.
And circumstances were different when the art was created. MJ wasn’t a child molester then; but one of six child victims of an abusive father.
But if we are forced to forever dismiss the art because of the artist, we often take innocents down with them and deprive them of their own pride.
Should “I Want You Back” by The Jackson 5 suffer the same fate? it’s the creation of fabulous session musicians, the songwriting/producing group “The Corporation” and others. All put their hands into it.
One can however argue differently if the art was created by many. Art is rarely created in a vacuum. JK is a terrible person, but would HP be as big as it is if not for the films? A crew of actors and filmmakers, most of whom denounce her words and defend the trans community?
He’s only ever obsessed with the IQ of black people; most especially black women.
It reminds me of the belief that being an artist means owning angst. A former friend used to blame her angry, frivolous and sometimes violent outbursts on "being an artist". She does pet portraits for a living.
Like Panettone, but better. I will forever contend that Colomba *almost* make up for the Roman co-opting of Easter.
Doug Ford appears to be entering his late-stage Don Cherry phase.
Anyone else notice the irony of the Toronto St. Patrick’s Day Parade starting outside of St. George station?
Had a bottle each of Japanese Mayonnaise and Okonimiyaki sauce confiscated by a security agent at Tokyo’s Narita airport last month. A Canadian airline to an Cansdian destination. All because the US pushed security theatre on the rest of the world.
I’ve found the people regularly relying on AI slop like this are the same people who put “excellent attention to detail” on their resumes and never research a lick about the company they’re applying to.
Corporate profits are higher than ever, and a handful of people have more wealth than 4 billion people combined, but you poor folk really need to tighten your belts and learn how money works.
Ahhh, the signs of spring are here in Toronto; the dog shit and cigarette butts sprout from the melting snow like crocuses and the potholes bloom without reservation.
Canadians were confused as to why Drake seemed to be showing up at every event with the Raptors—including the team parade—right after they won the championship.
Kash is giving the same “I want some of that attention”-vibe.
He’s right. It should be a criminal issue, properly litigated, with justice for victims and punishment for it’s willing accomplices.
To be fair, sidewalk plows only move so fast compared to street plows that can move at 40km/hr. And for every street there are nearly an equal number of sidewalks. We could invest in many more sidewalk plows to compensate for lack of speed, but events like this are rare.
The Party of Personal Responsibility, everyone.
The city forced the Scientology staff and residents out of the building over a decade ago because of structural problems. A decade+ of disrepair (and lack of actual repair) means it’s probably a strong gust away from crumbling and causing injury or damage. A lot would need to be done for a shelter.
My theory is that they’re waiting for a whale to give them the money to actually do something with the property, but Scientology ain’t what it was.
Lots of history here:
urbantoronto.ca/forum/thread...
They have repeatedly owed the city massive amounts of back property taxes, and routinely get around having to maintain the property by stating they’re going to “renovate” and drawing up half-hearted plans. The building has been deemed unsafe for work or residence. 1/
He’s a friend of one of the owners. I thought maybe he was an electrician or something just testing out the machines. I had no clue. Funny thing is, BNL were my first ever concert; they played my high school shortly before Gordon debuted. I’ve seen them 5 times. Still never crossed my mind.
