This morning I visited the oldest public library in the English-speaking world, complete with a medieval catflap and the desk where Karl Marx sat with Friedrich Engels as they conducted research for The Communist Manifesto.
It was bloody great ππ

I donβt want anyone to be discouraged from writing FF because itβs wonderful, but selling and marketing is challenging π
Thank you so much π©·π©·
Thank you! π©·
I do worry that my Medusa retelling isnβt taking off as much as Iβd hoped because itβs sapphic.
And it hurts, because I love FF stories SO MUCH, and I just wish they were as popular as MM π
JUST LOOK AT THESE TWO π₯Ί I wish they got the love they deserve ππ
Fun fact for all those who have been equally obsessed by the Artemis expedition this week:
My publishing imprint (Arteminion Books) was also named after the Ancient Greek goddess - and the logo (containing both the moon and a bow, her signature weapon) features on the spines of both my novels ππ
I got home and opened up Google Docs to work on my demon WIP instead of immediately playing Pokopia!
This is a good sign πππ
I have started drafting a new book π
Whoβs here for spicy demons? π
πππ
Iβm afraid Iβm going to be writing NOTHING while I have the distraction of Pokopia π π
Where are the readers who LOVE a book that makes them cry? πππ
Who wants to FEEL something when they read, even if it means having their heart ripped into pieces?
Who rates a book higher the more DEVASTATED it makes you?
WHERE ARE MY PEOPLE? π₯Ίπ₯Ίππ
πππ
What if I told you my book is basically Song of Achilles if it was sapphic and about Medusa instead?
WHAT THEN?
πππ
Something EXCITING is in the works, and itβs nice to feel jazzed about something for a change πππ
Probably π π
Am I getting a lot done becauseβ¦
A) I just started taking stronger ADHD meds π
B) Iβm procrastinating because I should be writing βοΈ
C) The SUN is out βοΈ
Itβs fun not knowing, I suppose βπ»ππ
Of course, after a period of not being sure what to work on, I now have THREE almost empty first drafts in my WIP folder π ππ
So, I may be retiring my dystopian WIP for the foreseeable future
and writing a whole NEW dystopian, anti-hero WIP thatβs been rattling around my head for about a year and is going to be fuelled by pure rage π₯
I have sold a grand total of two books this year.
Not this week, not this month, THIS YEAR.
Iβm not trying to get sympathy or pity, I just think itβs sometimes helpful to share the bad as well as the good.
Weβll get there, friends βπ»ππ
Thank you so much! π₯Ίπ₯Ίπ«Άπ»
I wish I could spend my afternoon writing but instead Iβm making Instagram reels because GETTING PEOPLE TO READ MY BOOKS IS HARD, EVEN WHEN ALL THE REVIEWS ARE GREAT πππ
Get yourself a partner who plans a Crash Bandicoot game marathon for Valentineβs Day π₯Ίπ₯Ίπ₯Ί
Iβm kind of sad I didnβt do any writing on my day off, but spending it recovering from staying up late, catching up with housework and FINALLY sending some books to a few people feels like a good use of time, regardless ππ»
Okay, Iβm glad I stayed up to watch Bad Bunny.
Not only was that one hell of a show, but it felt like an act of joyful defiance.
Of resistance and love in the face of oppression.
ME GUSTA π©· π΅π·
It was a tad creepy ngl

Grifters always think publishing is a get rich quick scheme and it just isnβt at all πππ
Which just proves itβs shit and no one wants it π« π« π«
If AI βauthorsβ and βartistsβ are so proud of their use of plagiarism-bots, why do NONE of them label their work as AI-generated?
They all pretend they did it themselves because they *know* audiences hate it and *know* they will be judged for it.
Keep rejecting AI and support humans ππ
