@oxfordclarion.bsky.social His arrest may be the start of a long journey so interesting to hear the article below where Moseley had the same experience and same reaction as Oxford.

On Monday I went on Ed James' BBC West Midlands (WM) Radio show and he let me talk about the the divisive outbreaks of flag measles and Raise the Colours for 10 mins!

The first 3 mins did cover most of what I wanted to say though:

Yes they are. We realised that they’re nasty thugs who are paid to bait people and record it for saddos to watch. Like Victorian bear baiting. The livestream dulls others people’s voices. Bridge does tricks like jumping back and shouting don’t push me when they haven’t and you can’t hear their voice

Can confirm. Lots of residents came to ask them not to put flags up but most kept a distance since Ryan Bridge runs a sick livestream of provoking and being nasty to local people which we know from last Tuesday. One woman lay under their vehicle. Unclear what happened next but he was arrested.

Lately I've been finding it hard to be in the AI space. There might be many elements to it. But one prominent one is how annoying I find that questionable people get the most attention (typically tech people with high financial interests), along with unreasonable claims. 1/

Good news below but to reiterate that the Abingdon Rd incident was appalling. We have learned they provoke people for clicks and entertainment & the live streaming is curated. It’s like 21st century beer baiting where normal people are the bears

@matthewbarber.co.uk @oxfordclarion.bsky.social Several women were intimidated on Tues on Abingdon Road. Videos abound. Last night police accepted masked men in balaclavas on the streets of Oxford intimidating council staff & saying they’ll start to follow them home

Masked men following council workers, casually mentioning that they would follow them part way home but giving an assurance they wouldn’t follow them all the way home because “we know you’ve probably got wives and children at home” @oxfordclarion.bsky.social

Correction. It was the council staff who took them down and were then followed and harassed by masked men who said “the police are on our side”. Watch this - the police condoning masked men following council workers

The flags have been taken down. Thanks for an excellent detailed article

Flags are symbols, of unity or division. Context matters. The Abingdon Road flags were put up by fascists. They want to commandeer our flags as symbols of white nationalism and anti immigration. They mark their territory like dogs, at every lamp post

Local residents have taken down the flags and written this which echoes your points

Government to lift paywall from large parts of the Land Registry Exclusive: finding out who owns land will become simpler under plans to make the best use of green spaces and hit net zero targets

VICTORY! Government to open up the Land Registry - bringing to an end a thousand years of secrecy shrouding who owns England.

I’ve been campaigning for this for ten years: the new Land Use Framework, published later today, makes it government policy. 1/

Sun headline about £500k compensation for migrants, discussing human rights, and public outcry over payouts.

Did you see this headline?

Did you feel the requisite anger and rage at asylum seekers that The Sun was asking of you?

Did you maybe blame Starmer because.... um... it was probably his fault🤷‍♀️

Would you like to know the reality behind the headline?

Course you would!😜

Let's take a look

Britain’s Story: The Next Chapter - BBC Royal Charter Review, Green Paper and public consultation

This is the Gov looking for your input on the BBC. It takes a while to complete (15/20 mins) but it’s pretty comprehensive and covers most aspects.

Please share. I’m surprised many people haven’t seen it yet.

there was a great piece in the LRB recently about how Span houses & other mid-century designs were widely derided at the time by people who enjoyed damp victorian terraces and I think they're brilliant designs plus the rooms are the size that people actually want

I expect this will be the lead story across the MSM today…

And yet BBC continues to minimises sexual misconduct.
Today’s BBC headline: Doctor who called junior colleague 'bad girl' and squeezed her waist is struck off

My headline: Consultant struck off a second time after touching the thigh and “near groin” of junior colleague

The BBC minimising sexual misconduct to create a clickbait headline. Choosing grabbed waist not thigh or “near groin” and “big girl” because it’s playful. He’s a sexual perv who had already been struck off for lying and dishonesty for 8 years

Doctor told junior colleague she was a 'bad girl' and squeezed her waist Dr Velmurugan Kuppuswamy is struck off after sexually harassing and objectifying female colleagues.

@pamnashes.bsky.social BBC headlines infuriate me. What headline would you write for this story? A consultant who was struck off in 2012, reinstated in 2020, < 12 mths later he grabbed a junior’s thigh and squeezed near her groin as well as lots of other dodgy behaviour www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Well done Pam! I dug out my old United beanie hat - so old that it was made in England - to tease a friend who’s an Arsenal fan. He took it well but the hat is so warm I’ve worn it everyday since, forgetting I’m wearing it until I get a dirty look. 4 comments so far, all from Arsenal fans. Love it!

The Oxford Mail uses rage bait pay: the journalists are paid per click so the more rage bait they post, the more ££. Appropriately the OED word of the year is rage bait.
