what if a Borges novel had character development

sorry i know this is old at this point (12 days) but the idea of building a triumphal arch without a triumph is so perfectly american. at least the arc de triomphe was celebrating napoleon and the narva gate was celebrating his defeat.

people bring up his famous rebuke of the Nazis, and his quote about being an "anarchist." his reactionism wasn't racist in nature, everything for him was oriented around the Catholic Church. and his anarchism was a petit-bourgeois anarchism perfectly compatible with ultraconservative regimes.
i feel like sometimes people forget Tolkien was a sympathizer of Franco. if Anduril, Palantir etc. were Catholic-coded instead of Protestant- or secular-coded he would probably sympathize with their mission statements.
as a game it feels more like a talented kid messing around than a "real" "game," the text needs a lot of editing, it needs more thematic focus etc. but there's some beautiful work in it and i hope the dev continues developing
one of those games that makes me envious i'm not making similar stuff
My Beautiful Faraway, Please Don't Be Cruel To Me is really pretty.
i tend to be sympathetic with the idea that socialist iconography should represent a complete break from all prior nationalist and colonial symbols, so politically i'm not sure if it's my fav, but as a big fan of the hussites, i enjoy the throwback.
neat thing about the czechoslovak socialist coat of arms. they changed the shape of the escutcheon from a typical knightly shield to an infantryman's pavise, to pay homage to the proto-communist hussites.
i haven't read this particular book but i tend to have similar reactions when i read this type of book (like dark fantasy style book with no research or historical grounding, with or without romance), lol. i just can't get into them
I hate these people
