We are less than $1000 away from this first stretch goal, so thank you for supporting neuroqueer art, and thank you for keeping it rolling! #BookSky #QueerArt #Kickstarter

Now stop the war.
And all wars.
Seriously. He's out there saying how great sales are, while multiple top-cred BIPOC women are fundraising for food?
And yes, their writing is "skilled."
The hell.
There are victims to this; don't people see that?
Hornytown Chutzbah's noir style cover includes a hand painted expressionistic detective wielding a super soaker loaded with Manischewitz red wine. Overlaying the cover are snippets from reviews Nerds of a Feather Flock Together, The Skiffy and Fanty Show, Punk-Ass Book Jockey, and Bookishly Jewish.
Believe it or not, a reviewer saw my pinned post and said, "Hey! Where's my quote on there?" I laughed and explained I chose to only use author blurbs, but then I thought... I should do a celebratory reviewers-quote poster for Hornytown Chutzpah.
So here it is!

Screen from Coke freestyle machine offering New Coke from 1985.
I learned you can still get New Coke in Atlanta and flash back to 11-year-old me writing a nasty letter to the Coca-Cola company in 1985.
If you’re a super keen bean, preorders for Ex Partum are now available! Check your favourite online retailer or ask your local bookshop and they can put in an order.*
*paperbacks not yet showing up on UK sites, but they should do soon, and deffo by launch date!
Aphid is almost to goal - hope we can make one more push!
You would get so many more amazing books if you had Universal Basic Income. Not even the most dream-scenario AI could compete with the creativity of a world of authors no longer afraid of affording rent.
One of things I spoke about (I rambled a lot) was that the SFF community is seen as a safe space for a lot of people, but scratch the surface and you find a lot of power-gatekeeping, misogyny, ableism, racism... one person in the audience (not a white man) was violently nodding as I said this.
I was sad going today. Emily being disinvited (yes, banned) from programming only hurts folks, especially young neurodivergent writers wondering if there is a safe space for them in this environment. I showed up, answered questions and talked to the folks attending my panel, then left.
Chris and two people at Westin.
Thanks to the *very* enthusiastic attendees of @chrisbell.atthisarts.com “Ask a Publisher” event at @penguicon.bsky.social - the room was available following so everyone stayed an extra hour - then two joined Chris a while longer! We’re so glad it was helpful! We love our community. #BookSky

Atthis Arts Opposes HR 7661. This nightmare bill: Intentionally twists language of “sexualizing children” (!) to ban books discussing gender, with a gender non-conforming character, or including “lascivious dancing.” (Come, on... Footloose? No!) Please call your reps and tell them: You oppose HR 7661 and you will oppose any attempts for the federal government to control your local librarians.
NO to Book Banning. NO to controlling our librarians and our communities. Those here who are safe to call your Rep in the US House of Representatives, please doso. Leave a quick voice mail. It matters. Let them hear you. Find your Rep's contact info here: www.house.gov/representati... #BookSky
So we post a lot of links for buying books direct from our site. This is because we get paid faster and our authors get paid more and our publisher can pay for extravagances like recycled paper bags, auction donation packages and the mortgage and such. Thanks for the boosts and for buying from us!
Hornytown's cover featuring a detective wielding a super soaker loaded with Manischewitz red wine in a field of anthropomorphic water balloons sits above a small portrait of me behind a studio mic.
It's my book's birthday!!! Balloons and pie for everyone!
This is a super deal!
“Filled with political intrigue and with a main character struggling with his religious convictions, this is a great read for fans of dark gritty fantasy.” — Martha Wells, bestselling author of The Murderbot Diaries
Congratulations to our very own @wtalabi.com for making the Nebula finals for his Sauútiverse novella, Descent!
💫🔥❤️
Fantastic. Read it.
And ... let's do this. So I haven't talked much about myself for Hugo eligibility because I sure the hell know the deal. However, now that a novel I edited is a Nebula finalist, *throws up hands* here we go.
✨ E.D.E. Bell is eligible for Hugo Long Form Editor ✨
See my editing credits at:
Our press started because I needed to write to survive, and my spouse learned the business side, and then people wanted our help, and then I realized I was a good editor...
And 13 years later we have a NEBULA FINALIST.
Dreams do come true. Keep believing. The road is often long.
Keep believing.
Watching the Nebula finalists -- the voice actors are doing a fabulous job; I'm really enjoying it. But they should NOT be introduced as "narrated by".
"Read tonight by" would be much more appropriate (and legal). If I were the published audiobook narrator of one of these books, I might be upset.
And the Nebula Finalists for the Andre Norton are... The Tower David Anaxagoras (Recorded Books) Gemini Rising Jonathan Brazee (Semper Fi Press) Wishing Well, Wishing Well Jubilee Cho (Atthis Arts) Sunrise on the Reaping Suzanne Collins (Scholastic) Into the Wild Magic Michelle Knudsen (Candlewick) Goblin Girl K.A. Mielke (self-published)
Congratulations to our Nebula Finalists for this year's Andre Norton Nebula Award for Middle Grade and Young Adult Fiction!

The audiobook editions of Renegade and Heretic by Gregory A. Wilson are complete and available now, narrated by the wonderful Tren Sparks.
To celebrate, all Gray Assassin paperbacks are on sale (at an extremely low price) on our website, and include both the e-book and audiobook, while codes last!
We love seeing this four year recap of the @sauutiverse.bsky.social and including our own novella Songs for the Shadows by Cheryl S. Ntumy, a beautiful reflection on grief and purpose.
We believe the Sauútiverse is the best thing going on in literature and it deserves much more attention. #BookSky
Don’t encourage her.
Prob too late this year but I'm sure Penguicon or ConFusion in Detroit would love to have you. Both have good writing tracks (I'm running an "ask a publisher" panel at Penguicon). ConFusion already happened, Penguicon is later this month. If you make it out this way, we'd love to catch up!
Holy shit!!
and yep this happens all the time
You’ll see me and @brooklynmarie.bsky.social reference it opaquely
But uh me and a couple Brown folks ended up getting a whole TED project shuttered
On civic media
The woman who helped still funded ! Still cool so are the bystanders
Read my new column. I decided to be more detailed about an effort to get me to shut up about #MeToo revelations. It’s important to understand how the hush-hush behind-scenes silencing and punishment work. Women get caught in a quandary due to financial and career threats.
And the one acknowledgement I read of her horrible treatment praised her for taking the abuse without causing problems. Her poor treatment wasn't just from the SFF bigshots, but from the community that chose not to support her and let her take the full brunt it.
