The deputy leader of Reform UK, Richard Tice, owns a property company - Quidnet REIT.
From 2020 to 2022 it paid Tice and his trust £600k in dividends. Quidnet should have paid £120k of tax on those dividends. It didn't.
A 🧵 with evidence from the company's own filings:

Iran war: Tehran-US peace talks fail to reach deal as Washington issues 'final offer'.
Under Obama's tenure the process leading to the JCPOA took 18 months. It appears as though Vance & Co wanted to conclude a more complex deal in just 21 hours.
At a human level I am also pleased for his safety. But it is difficult to square that feeling with the knowledge that the guy was the ordinance specialist on board and bombing Iranians and Iranian facilities in pursuit of an illegal war. He wasn't shot down whilst delivering candy to kids.
Senator Chris Murphy, "The Strait of Hormuz was open before the war began"
"We are now seeking to solve a problem that we created"
"This is insanity"
In all the years of supporting Arsenal I had never ever left any of our matches early. But our 2nd half was so poor yesterday (uncompetitive, toothless, lacking in desire, rudderless, meek) that I left before the end.
The int'l break has come at a good time for us. We get up and go again.
Joe Kent's resignation.
With his resignation statement Joe Kent has thrown Hegseth, Witkoff, Kushner, Rubio and Netanyahu, not to mention Trump himself, under the bus.
His name is Luiz Munoz.
Agreed on all.
There is a 14 year old too lurking in the background somewhere who's supposed to be another rare talent.
Dowman's goal reminds me of Martinelli's at the Bridge when he put Ngolo Kante on the turf and ran onto goal. I wonder if Kepa was also reminded of that last night, as he was in goal.
Similarly, though a different sector, Colombian coal is mostly characterised by open and surface coal (= easy/cheap extraction costs), compared to when Britain was active in coal mining and having to grapple with mines hundreds of meters deep.
In addition much of iranian oil is locationally more accessible than, say, Venezuelan oil. The US produces a lot of shale related oil which is costly to process and, as your reposted graphic shows, heavier than iranian oil.
Thank you for speaking up.
I know it may seem contentious but Mossadeq was elected by Iran's Majlis (the lower house). So his was a de facto appointment rather than an election of a PM in the British sense. He had popular support though, so discussing the system leading to him assuming power may just be splitting hairs.
Agree, it seems to be the result of several semi-crude extrapolations. And this link may suffer from that same problem:
iran-cost-ticker.com
But i guess having a crude number, in these circumstances, may be better than having none.

Just goes to show that, if we wanted to, even some of the worse tragedies can be expressed in a lighthearted manner.
Word salad.
A considerable amount over the short term. Longer term is obviously impossible to predict.
The Rose Garden Palace
This is the Rose Garden Palace in Iran, built in 16th Century, renovated in 18th Century, and finally rebuilt in 1865. If I remember correctly, my parents had taken me for visits when I was a child.
If the other place is to be believed, it was bombed yesterday by USIS.
Seems so.
Anything to do with Trump not being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize?
Yup
This conflict is so uncalled for. 'Preemptive' is such a pathetic excuse to start a war.
Crazy, isn't it.
Yup.
So much for the Board of Peace.
Hope the scheme spills outwards in all directions. We only really need to have through access for emergency services.
Thank you for always posting great stuff here.
Just to point out, conditional cash transfers have been shown to be far more effective than the unconditional ones. And the home visits can be seen as an extended example of CCTs, as this support can be linked to acceptance of such visits.
