The COTimes Recorder will host an online panel & fundraiser May 12, to discuss its investigation that illuminates how conservative donors, like billionaire Phil Anschutz, have poured millions into dark-money groups -- centered around Advance Colorado -- focused on public relations & ballot measures.

According to @loganmdavis.bsky.social, conservative group Advance Colorado is pushing "a comprehensive effort to remake Colorado in their donors’ image as a carceral, smog-ridden tax haven."

Reminder that most people who didn't vote in 2024 didn't do so out of a desire to "smash Democrats," so maybe it's really stupid to constantly attack people who didn't vote and constantly smear them. Just a thought! www.pewresearch.org/politics/202...
hahaha thank you
Kayfabe, badly done.
You ever actually read anything Curtis Yarvin (Mencius Moldbug) has written? The man is an idiot.
The most offensive thing about guys like Weev and Thiel and Moldbug and Vance is that they are all — every single one of them — demonstrably stupid.
I find it almost unbearably infuriating to live in a world shaped by a loathsome homunculus like Weev.
"Just like there is no way to watch the new HBO adaptation of Harry Potter without directly contributing to J.K. Rowling’s relentless campaign against transgender people, there is no way to attend Coachella without contributing to Anschutz’s political crusades: anti-gay, anti-climate, anti-worker."
The Vaporware Economy™️
I was still young enough in 2008 to believe that no one could have seen it coming.
Now I’m older, and I understand that they did see it coming and just hoped they could keep profiting and get out in time.
Now even I can see it coming.
Colorado's wealthiest man owns Coachella.
He also bankrolled Project 2025, and the right-wing machine that killed Roe. I spent 20 years organizing to protect the rights he spent millions trying to erase.
That's why I don't take corporate PAC money.

Philchella: til the country is unlivable
And it lines the pockets of one particularly truly evil right-wing billionaire, Phil Anschutz. Check out the expose from our friend @loganmdavis.bsky.social at @coloradotimesrecorder.com
The Coachella festival, one of the biggest pop culture phenomenons in the world, is currently occurring in California -- and pouring millions of dollars into the pockets of right-wing billionaire Phil Anschutz in the process.

This woman is a handpicked Trump supporter from Arkansas and she is less anti-trans than the median Atlantic columnist
"Check this shit out"
I understand why people don’t want to accept the possibility, but ignoring it is becoming dangerously negligent.

“CIA agent won’t go on leftist show.”
Yeah, man, famously complicated relationship there.
If leaders abuse the rule of law to make themselves immune to it, so that they can undermine the rights of others with impunity, by what moral or philosophical argument are they entitled to its protections, once they lose power? By what grace should they be sorted by law instead of by other means?
Thanks, Quentin. I'm also kind of amazed at how few people report on the enormous elephant in our collective room.
Amazing that @loganmdavis.bsky.social and @coloradotimesrecorder.com are practically alone in giving this sweeping Colorado politics story, about a murky and deep-pocketed right-wing influence machine, the regular attention it deserves.
It’s nice to have almost every problem in our society embodied in a single news alert
Last year, we uncovered a network of right-wing money exerting enormous influence over Colorado politics. Today, we take a closer look at how that network functions, and how it convinces blue-state voters to support conservative policies.

I say this gently and as someone who understands the premise: politics is much broader than electoralism, much broader than Congress, and the idea that all we can do is vote and wait is premature surrender by people unwilling to do the work of informing, activating, and organizing people.
Unfortunately I have very little doubt at on how that is going to turn out.
If there ever was anyone at that level prepared to burn down a career over illegal target selection, they got purged by Hegseth a while ago.
The military will not save you from the voters' bad political decisions.
As someone who has run more than enough campaigns at enough levels to understand why this is the common practice, it bears noting that the abandonment of persuasion and registration efforts was primarily a budgetary decision, not a data-driven decision based on impact.
Every three days, this war re-proves the eternal truth that people who work in finance are morons.
I participated in an amicus brief on this birthright citizenship thing and more that just the actual facts of how bad it would be re economy, legal precedent etc : this would be the most substantial step towards actual ethnic cleansing.
The data has been public for months, but @loganmdavis.bsky.social dug into it to pull stories out- weaving endless lines of numbers into paths on a map, searchable by age, country, and other factors. Know of an ICE arrest that made the news? See if you can find it in here.
