This is an artwork for Miranda Balasterion. She plays a role as the protagonists' mother for my take of a Pokémon x Mario crossover, where it plays out similarly to an actual Pokémon game and more than just a "what if all <franchise>'s creatures and characters is the Pokémon creature themself" trope.

Miranda is a businesswoman for her family's corporation, but she now also tries to be a Pokémon Trainer to catch up with her twin children (aka the protagonists). Last time she is a Pokémon Trainer was back when she was still a tomboyish teen going on a journey to the Unova Region in search of her father, and even then she admits to be not very good at it back then.

Random fact: her necklace was given to her from her husband, it's unknown how he obtained it though since nobody can tell what type of gem it is..

trying out to render in the style of Pokémon artworks. while it's not truly the same, it turns out nice I think

in a mood for drawing non-pixel art recently, hopefully I can remember and try to post more :>

Panda the cat, fluffy and majestic as ever, sits and stares at the cameraman, awaiting his next feasting time.

In Mario & Luigi: Brothership, a status effect turns Mario to stone. In this state, he has 16 separate textures for each expression he can have, including 6 unused ones, which all just happen to look completely identical.

My artistic process:

*Oh boy I'm so excited to get to work on this idea I have!

5 minutes in...

*This is horrible I need to kill myself.

15 minutes in...

*I think I'm the next Mozart.

30 minutes in...

*I should break my wrists why do I even bother.

Done!

*Damn I kinda cooked.

When uploading to Bluesky, remember to resize your works to 800%!

Why? Images are converted to .jpeg when uploaded. .jpeg compresses the image into 8x8 pixel blocks.

If a block has more than one colour, that dreaded compression occurs!

I've been seeing a lot of pixel artists struggle with Bluesky's image compression, so I'd thought I'd share how to get clear, crisp pixels on the site!

Share to help a fellow pixel-artist!
