As there was only one salaried trans judge, I guess 100% of salaried trans judges reported being discriminated against.

(And I guess this means the Judicial Attitudes Survey - supposedly anonymous - nevertheless identified that that judge (who we all know) reported she was discriminated against.)

The reason why When Harry Met Sally remains the ultimate romcom is that the romantic fantasies for 30somethings are

1. you meet someone through mutual friends who read your writing

2. someone you already know has an epiphany that they love you

No further dating required.

So much of our language reflects
the common “car first” bias around our streets, & we should never forget that much of that language was the result of deliberate campaigns to specifically re-write our perspective of streets as “for cars only.” This is one of the more subtle, but important, examples.

NYC neighborhood economics are not "You're in a rich area therefore you must be rich" because "areas" are not states with borders.

There's rent stabilized places and new luxury developments side by side. Systems that let people live in blended economic circumstances RESIST full gentrification.

Speech bubble (text not from the comic) - I know you're here, anthropic, you fucking loser. Where's my goddamn money?

Text at bottom: "Every author ever"

Good lord, I knew it was bad, but 3%??

And for that 3% you must now pay more than Netflix monthly while being splattered with ads, porn, ads for porn, Nazis, ads for Nazi porn, every half-coagulated thought that dribbles out of Elon Musk’s barf-hole, & ads for Nazi/Musk barf porn.

The 'eyelashes' on a southern ground hornbill would make a model envious, but here's a neat trick:
Those AREN'T eyelash hairs. They're modified FEATHERS.

Let's take a look at these specialized structures & why the southern ground hornbill (Bucorvus leadbeateri) needs these long velvet veils.

Its telling that the Speaker of the House, a self-proclaimed devout Christian, feels its more important to sanction the Pope for speaking on the immorality of the Iran War rather than sanction the President of the United States who equated himself with God.

🚨SC republicans are trying to pass a (more) extreme abortion ban (again). S1095 is a total ban with no exceptions for rape, incest or fatal fetal anomaly. Women and doctors can go to jail for up to 20 years. It classifies mifepristone as a controlled substance. 🚨

The government changed my passport gender marker.

I have NO documentation stating I'm male. Not my birth certificate, driver's license, medical records. I'm intersex, so I don't even know what a DNA test might say.

Which means I CAN'T prove my passport isn't a fraud to any foreign government.

I am so happy. I feel so supported and taken care of, and I'm still so proud of this book, and I love what it's helping to do to bring women to Magic and show them that they can be welcome. I hope they'll stay.

My heart is genuinely full.

An update: I am done with Bookcon. Day two went swimmingly.

Both days, a raffle was running for really awesome MtG coloring books. Heavy paper, detailed art, free to enter. But because you had to come to the booth to claim your prize, most prizes had gone unclaimed.
