...and according to the news this morning, males have a 'sex arm' to select a mate through smell. Or something. #TheArchers #science

We had a black and white TV anyway.

Didn't seem to make any difference to me when I upgraded. Out of interest, do you know why Proms announce the season so late? It's a real pain.

Egremont Russet: the apple that thinks it's a pear. The perfect compromise and the best thing about autumn. Ignore the 'it's a potato' imbeciles.

When we were house-hunting in Leicester in 1994, more houses didn't have central heating than did. In 2001 when moved to the Isle of Wight, we had to install central heating in the house we bought.

I live in a small seaside town. In many respects it's doing well, especially at the 'hobby' end of retail (I bought a £350 print last month), but at the necessity end, there's one (independent) shoeshop: shoe polish?- only black. Shoelaces? - none. I'm not driving 8 miles for polish and shoelaces.

Loved #TheArchers Truth and Lies. Definitely a better format than the actual soap. Line up the miserable, unpleasant, selfish and spoilt characters one-by-one and confront them with their faults. (Except Brad. And Chelsea. And Tracy.) Include their pets too, with a Johnny Morris style voice.

I don't understand why it's not just like running any business. Appoint your family as directors and resign, leaving the business to the new directors? Pay any tax on profits you take on resignation. Happy to be explained why farms are different to factories.

The bunting?

I remember it as a classic dramatic tension device - will she/won't she, with the audience all knowing she was making the wrong decision with head over heart. It was sad.

I spotted that maths reference too. Quite an odd line if it doesn't mean anything.

Isn't there also a subtle inference that he's fit (in the sense physically attractive and in good shape), but oblivious to it, hence the line 'why are we talking about my buttocks?' in Underwoods.

From memory, she flitted between the two - they were cast as opposites and young Emma while excited by Ed's wilder side, thought she'd be better off with steadier Will. Ed's life was really chaotic and unreliable. The today Ed is quite different.

Three of the characters are now nice. Apart from that, no.

According to Ruari they all have underfloor heating nowadays.

Nah. Let's get the plotters (Tom, Kate, Ruari, Jacob and Natasha) into a Scottish castle and do a Traitors, but with real murders. (And turn off the under-floor heating for fun.) Pretty sure Jakob will emerge the victory.

The fact she is somewhat rich seems to provide her with the power.

I'd only have a pint in The Bull with Chelsea, Brad and Tracy. Jakob maybe - he seems to see the madness that is Ambridge.

Head over parapet: it's a L3 language qualification, not an English A Level. I lived in Spain for 2 years in the 1990s, teaching English. I studied Spanish at night school and got a L3 (A Level = qualification) in that time. That enabled me to function reasonably well in a professional environment.
