Someone else HAS to take over this space. I curse meta's frustrating UX daily. I have programmed VCRs in the 90s with less friction than just trying to get a screenshot off a headset, or connecting a different headset to Link.

Parental controls in all devices exist for one purpose, and are designed for another:

1. Exist to prevent being sued or PR-cancelled
2. Designed to make the humans involved in the process turn them off.

Wait...Supernatural has a community? I haven't used that app since 2020, is it mutliplayer now?

But also, my kids did both. I had a VERY lego pair of sons, who only stopped asking for Lego in their mid-teens because at this point they have enough and our house would not be structurally sound if you teleported all the lego pieces and nerf darts out of the crevices

(It's vastly more complicated than that obviously, but there is a reason its all kits these days--it's a market niche they found to be profitable after many decades)

This is actually a fascinating bit of product history: when I was a kid, Lego was not at all about the kits. They tended to just sell various sets of pieces and maybe a few instructions. Then their patent ran out and they had to rebrand with IP licenses and specific kits.

I went on an indefinite break from VRChat world creation back in May, with the intention to explore other platforms/options.
I won't be returning to VRC as a world creator anymore, the break from it is now permanent.

So what did I choose?

99% Invisible also has a number of pieces on both car and airline safety. I think given the hsitory and trajectory of tech and car culture, a future with auto-driving single-occupant vehicles is the reality. We will have self-driving cars. The question is how.

I think this is a very gross misstatement. Every system is going to fail in some unexpected way. Hopefully what Waymo is planning will align with how the airline industry dealth with safety issues, not how car companies have. Look up the history on those approaches and results for examples.
