What the fuck are you talking about, man?

I really viscerally understand the anti-AI feeling and I share it, but you’re not going to stop it by filtering out literally the most ordinary language.

Next you’ll be suggesting “hello” is a red flag.

In other words: stop doing the fascists’ work for them, using their tools and instruments and justifications.

All it does is confirm a position that someone’s core identity, their very being, is contingent upon the behaviour you deem appropriate. And that is an extraordinarily dangerous, not to mention morally despicable, position to take, and we rightfully condemn the fash for doing exactly that.

Some people will so gladly pretend they don’t understand this.

Let’s put it another way: it is part of the fascist programme to deny the legitimacy of trans personhood, it is not possible to deny the legitimacy of trans personhood antifascistly. Even if who you’re doing it to is reprehensible.

There’s a church here with a board out the front announcing “THE BIBLE GIVES HOPE THAT JESUS CHRIST WILL SOLVE WORLD’S ECONOMIC PROBLEMS” and I’m not sure if it’s funnier that they think Christ has the solution to the balance of payments, or that they’re not entirely sure he does but they “hope” so.

My Granddad, who fought with the British army in the war, recalled with a lot of bitterness when their American offsiders went on strike when they weren’t served ice cream on the front in late 1944.

Hell, *I* saw it at Imprints the other day; the first time I’ve seen it on shelves! 😊 (they apparently had a copy at Hares & Hyenas last year but it disappeared!)

Damn the new @sarahz.bsky.social video goes hard and I’m very grateful for it—especially the parts that hurt, because those reminders are necessary.

“The Pope is weak on crime” does not have the same ring to it as “How many divisions has the Pope?”

This is so fucking funny, like he's about 11 hours away from renaming the months so that four are named after him, one is named for his mum, and one is named "Big Mac."

Being back in Australia and not only is Ben Roberts-Smith credibly accused of war crimes, but Tony Abbott needs to shut the fuck up.

It’s like I never left.

Perfect day to listen to @inbedwiththeright.bsky.social and recognise that the future is now and it’s even stupider than anyone could have ever imagined.

Also @moiradonegan.bsky.social HOW DARE YOU about Australians and also you’re not wrong.

Thrilled the world doesn’t end today. And the US has once again been humiliated on the world stage and will package it as victory.

These are, in fact, eminently precedented times, but all mashed together in a unique and frankly terrifying package.

Okay pals, a two-week breathing space. A fortnight to come up with a long-term solution to the crisis that is the US president.

Oh this is true beyond question; I’m however sceptical that it would, at least in the immediate term, make a significant difference to US foreign policy that would stave off crimes against humanity. Not that they shouldn’t do so! But the power to affect change remains centred in the US itself.

Both obviously have elements of truth but there’s only so much the rest of the world can do; understanding it’s a terrible and difficult situation USians find themselves in, they realistically are the only ones with any latitude. Massive general strikes and the withdrawal of labour, for instance.

This morning there is a mix of non-Americans thinking Yanks should act (and not recognising that that’s very dangerous), and Yanks saying that that’s very dangerous (and therefore it’s everyone else’s problem and not theirs).

Also friends, if you can give Juno a little help, please consider it. She does some great stuff and is always trying to boost people in need, and that community spirit needs some of its own. 💜

Just a heads-up, pals: if you see anything posted by @velocity69.bsky.social that purports to be from Artemis II, it's fake and they're taking advantage of everyone's understandable excitement about the Moonshot to peddle inauthentic video.
