I think my favorite new book I read this year was "The Devils" by Joe Abercrombie. Dark fantasy adventure with one of the most interesting Europe-based worlds I've encountered in years. The elves are terrifying.

This is how I felt at the end of the film adaptation of Stephen King's "The Mist." I wanted to throw the laptop across the room when the twist was revealed. I was upset with the storyteller's *choices,* not the story itself!
Yeah, I think that when people use this phrase, they're not quite getting at the heart of what they're criticizing: a cheap trick that the storyteller is using too nakedly.
Could be that more folks aligned with this event are COVID-cautious or immuno-compromised.
