Victory out of Richmond! 🎉
SB 446 has cleared the Virginia General Assembly and now heads to the Governor’s desk. This bill extends Driver Privilege and Identification Cards, helping more Virginians drive safely and access identification.
“Masked ICE agents detained Elias just one mile from his life‑saving dialysis appointment in DC. They left him traumatized and broken, and it cost him his life. ICE doesn’t just tear families apart, they destroy lives. My son didn’t deserve this. No one does,” said Emilia, mother of Elias.
“This is not about politics. This is a fight for our lives, our families, and those 3-year-olds who may never see their parents. This is about all of us, and we must stand united because we all have rights,” said Ama Frimpong, Legal Director at We Are CASA.
“Due process is for anyone who is in America. They cannot pick and choose who gets the right to due process,” said LaDon Love, Executive Director of Spaces in Action.
“My nephew was detained and deported by ICE right here in DC, leaving behind a 3-year-old child. My family now carries the scar of that separation. But I refuse to give up. Our fight is our voice, and we will not be silenced,” said Rosibel, community organizer at We Are CASA.
“We must stand up and be the country that our forefathers created us to be. A country of justice, a country of consciousness that stands up and believes in equality for all. A country made up of immigrants with respect for everyone,” said Bishop Allyson Abrams of Empowerment Liberation Cathedral
ICE is breaking the law. 🗣️ A federal court ordered ICE to stop making warrantless arrests without probable cause in Washington, D.C. Yet the arrests continue. We demand a stop to this injustice.

This month, we celebrate and honor the incredible women who inspire change, shatter ceilings, nurture possibility, and lead with unshakable strength every single day.✨
#WomensHistoryMonth
When women rise, communities don’t just thrive. They transform. 🦋
They are our brave mothers, sisters, daughters, and friends. They are women: powerful, resilient, unstoppable.
Recuerde ACT

We joined a coalition of national advocacy groups to fight back in a landmark Supreme Court case on birthright citizenship. Together, we are defending the rights, dignity, and future of our members.

Legislation related to 287(g) agreements moves from the House to the Senate for consideration, and student safety and privacy bills move from the Senate to the House. The fight for safety, dignity, fairness, and protection continues.
✨ Our brave members’ efforts have secured another victory, bringing us closer to stronger protections for immigrants, students, and workers in Virginia.
Family separation is not policy. Third-country disappearance is not safety. It is a wound.
We demand Rabbiatu’s immediate return.
Bring her home.
#BringRabbiattuhHome
Rabbiatu Kuyateh should be home, not fighting to return to the life she built over decades.
A mother. A grandmother. A nurse. A pillar in her community.
She was taken from her family and sent far from where she belongs.
We're celebrating a big step toward trust, safety, and dignity for all who call #BaltimoreCounty home. The county council voted to protect immigrant residents, limit ICE collaboration, and ensure everyone can access county services without fear. #BraveOfUS
We Are CASA will keep fighting to pass the Virginia Community Safety and Trust Act so every corner of the Commonwealth reflects dignity, trust, and protection.
Governor Spanberger ended Virginia’s state law enforcement and state agencies’ participation in 287(g) agreements, which deputized them to act as federal immigration agents.
This victory belongs to our immigrant communities whose bravery made it possible.
