Hmmm, mushrooms as buried psychology... that works π§ there is something wonderful about mushrooms, and being connected to everything is one of those wonderful things. I like the mystery and surprise of finding them, and the fact that they are more rare than flowers may make the joy more intense π»
The veining of the cap underside on the left of the large one is so perfect. It is neat to see how you worked through each one.
This looks wonderful! Did you notice anything that surprised you when drawing it?
It's been six months since I was diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia, and I'm delighted to say that my red blood cells are back to normal, hemoglobin is at a healthy 13, and my ferritin is over 70! Still considered iron deficient as I work on refilling my iron stores, but not #anemic anymore π₯³π₯³π₯³
I loved the colors you used in this π»
This is legit cool.
Wooden jigsaw puzzle hand painted with a looping rainbow ribbon on tessellating pieces.
This idea of a rainbow ribbon has been in my mind for... at least the last year. Since it is on my tessellating puzzle, all of the pieces fit to each other in any space so I think it will look really cool all jumbled up π»
Next time you take pics of a mushroom you want to ID, make sure to get pictures of the underside of the cap. Most bolettes have pores and not gills. For a post-ID as not-a-mycologist: yeah it looks like a bolete π
I completely identify with your well-worded comment here, as a fellow creative. Especially the last sentence, "Things just have been hectic as they've always been." π« πΉ
Is the color really all just from the warp?!
πΉ yeah, there's not one single attribute about mushrooms that can be a rule for toxicity. Part of what makes the challenge fun! But also, if you cooked these to eat, there'd be nothing left πΉ
Mine left a ton of white spores on the soil around it. Maybe the next time one pops up?
"please purchase touchable mushrooms through regular channels" πΉπΉπΉ
Flowerpot parasol is one of its common names π»

Monday meowday? The sun is finally set enough that the backyard is in shade. Such a difference compared to this morning and this afternoon videos.
We measured the temp of the concrete at 5:00 p.m. and it was 120Β°F π«
Stick around to see a cute Mr.Peanut cat at the end of the video π»

Bowl of taco meat, shredded cheese, rice, random garden greens (hibiscus leaves, green bean leaves, lambs quarters, sorrel, collard greens that never grew, and some Chinese chives)
#dayinmylife hopped back on the computer to edit an article for the Puzzle Pages and answer a few emails. Then it's time for Taco Rice for dinner π€€
Oh, and an allergy flare up for the last hour (sneezing, itchy eyes, runny nose π΅)
Shot of the book Bookshops & Bonedust in the Libby app.
Broken shards of a handmade pottery bowl on a concrete patio with scattered pecan halves around.
#dayinmylife had to "go to the library" (open Libby) and get some lighter reading. Started on Bookshops & Bonedust, for reading during lunch and a bit longer.
Changed clothes to sit outside, because it is now 92Β° F and humid π
And true to form (being a klutz), knocked my bowl of pecans off π΅
5 plants with wet and heavy dirt balls shoved into a box for shipping means the plants get damaged.
Poor mangled raspberry plants (and one currant!), with wrapped root balls after being rescued from the collapsing shipping box. Hopefully I can root the broken halves of the canes!
I haven't figured out what to eat for lunch yet, instead I rescued new plants from the mailbox!
Sadly, 3 of 4 raspberries had 1/3rd of the canes broken in shipping. Considering how they were packed, I'm not surprised.
Fingers crossed all survive transplanting!

Possible really cute boxes to put puzzles in? Boxes are brown, and the lid has pink dots and a hot pink bow.
Pile of half finished laser cut wooden puzzles that need to be painted.
Whelp, we're at the afternoon already, and I took about 30 minutes to shop for puzzle boxes, another 30 sorting through half-completed puzzles and searching for a possible missing puzzle piece, and then 1.5 hour Zoom meeting for Puzzle Jam South. Woot.
Time for lunch!

I'm reading "We Are Not Free", about American teens in Japanese internment camps. The sheer horribleness of it makes my heart break.
How can we be so cruel? How do we continue to be so cruel, allowing I.C.E. any place in this country?

Cleaned off my garden tools and lubed them up with some petroleum jelly, stirred the shio koji, and sliced up strawberries for my oatmeal. The little dishes are for my silly boy cats who love oatmeal starch.
Pink and white salvia plants to root in water on the left, and just a couple of blooms that I accidentally cut on the right in jars of water.
Reading the Kindle in my garden while eating breakfast. I choose to read hard things sometimes when I feel like I can handle it. Reading "We Are Not Free" and it is about the Japanese internment camps. Deep sadness and it's hard to eat and not cry while also realizing this is happening right now with I.C.E.
Second breakfast! Rice cooker steel cut oatmeal with garden strawberries. Stirred the shio koji that I'm making.
Some of the pink-and-white salvia that might root in water, and how I read my Kindle while eating, pinched between my knees π

Marigold cuttings to clone more plants and hopefully I get to eat my tomatoes this year instead of the leaf-footed bugs ruining them!
Chopped up comfrey leaves in water, add a mosquito dunk and it becomes a mosquito control trap. Leave it for a couple of weeks and it becomes liquid fertilizer. Be warned. It will start to stink like something pooped itself to death π
Pink and white salvia trimmings that I am hoping to root and make more bushes with.
#dayinmylife took some cuttings of the marigolds in hopes that I can clone them.
Trimmed and chopped a bucket of comfrey. I'll let it sit a few days and add a mosquito dunk so I get to kill mosquitoes and get a fertilizer at the same time!
And going to try to root these salvia cuttings.
I used Greek yogurt last time, and a really good buttermilk the first time. Thanks for the tip, sour cream tastes better π
No Natz bug oil and very large salvia bush.
Trimmed salvia bush severely by 1/2, because this one grow so fast.
First impatiens of the year after heavily pinching last month.
Spent an hour pruning salvia in the garden. Found that this extra-wide salvia bush grew a baby salvia that will need transplanting. And with the sun starting to show, the gnats are coming out, so slathered exposed skin with this oil.
And first impatiens of the year π»
