NHS funding boost welcome but mental health must receive fair share, says RCPsych President President Dr Lade Smith CBE comments on the Chancellor's spending review.

On the #SpendingReview: "It's disappointing not to receive new investment in mental healthcare as it accounts for 20% of the NHS disease burden. Staff cannot be expected to deliver the best outcomes for patients with only 8.7% of the budget" - President @drladesmith.bsky.social 👇

This important report has found that people with complex mental illnesses are often not able to access the care and treatment they need.

It also shows that therapeutic support provided closer to home can deliver better outcomes for patients and make better use of NHS resources.
