Ron Washington on O’Hoppe last season
“He caught more games than any catcher in baseball. He's Superman if he wasn't tired. But what I loved about him being tired, is he didn't believe he was tired, and he showed up every day at the ballpark and went at it like he wasn't tired.”

GM Perry Minasian named Kyle Hendricks as one of the locks in the Angels' starting rotation yesterday.
Hendricks may not be the pitcher he used to be, but the Angels believe in him and he's ready to find consistency on the mound.

Ron Washington on what he’s seen so far from Christian Moore this spring:
“He's proven to me has aptitude. He's proven to me you can give him things and he can apply it. He's just a young kid that’s hungry for a lot of wealth of knowledge.”
Ron Washington on what conversations he’s had with Yusei Kikuchi:
“I’ve said ‘Hello’ and “Stay healthy.’”
Anthony Rendon is having hip surgery, again. That and more notes from the first day of pitchers and catchers report at Angels spring training.

After splitting overtimes with No. 6 Denver this weekend, ASU hockey jumps up two spots to No. 10 in the rankings.
A valiant effort from ASU to come back from a 3-1 deficit and also scoring in the final minute of regulation to force overtime, but it wasn't enough.
My story from last night's overtime thriller against Denver ⬇️
cronkitesports.com/no-12-asu-al...
FINAL: Aidan Thompson on the rush goes bar-down to win it for Denver in overtime, 4-3.
A gutsy effort by ASU to crawl back and force overtime but came up just short.
Denver calls timeout with 1:23 left in OT.
Denver kills the penalty to start overtime.
End of regulation tied 4-4. More importantly, ASU will start overtime on the power play. Samu Salminen took a tripping penalty in the dying seconds of regulation.
GOAL: Artem Shlaine sends a crossn-ice pass to a streaking Bennett Schimek for the back-door tap in. Tie game with 47 seconds left.
Mullett Arena exploded.
Luke Pavicich heads to the bench for the extra attacker with just under two minutes left.
4-3 Denver still.
Denver kills off the power play. Still 4-3 Denver with just over five minutes left.
Sam Harris gets the gate for high sticking. Huge power play for ASU with 7:35 left while chasing a goal.
GOAL: Aidan Thompson jumps on a breakaway and beats Luke Pavicich to give Denver the lead.
4-3 Denver with 13:24 left.
We're through two periods of play at Mullett Arena and are tied a 3-3.
Denver controlled play the first half of the period and ASU dominated the second half. Shots are 24-16 in favor of Denver.
Someone just got engaged on the jumbotron. Can't think of a more romantic place to do so than Mullett Arena.
GOAL: Lukas Sillinger ties this game by putting a rebound shot into a wide open net.
3-3 with 7:16 left in the period.
GOAL: A shot on goal gets popped in the air for a moment before landing on the goal line and pushed in. Ty Jackson gets credit for the goal.
ASU within one at 3-2 with 10:17 left in the middle frame.
GOAL: Boston Buckberger snipes one over the shoulder of Luke Pavicich and goes bar-down. Denver has controlled play this entire period so far.
3-1 Denver.
GOAL: Sam Harris pick the puck up off the boards and drives along the goal line to score on a backhander.
2-1 Denver 2:54 into the second period.
End of the first period tied at 1-1.
Denver leading the shot count at 14-8. Luke Pavicich has been on top of his game so far. ASU needs to stay out of the box to keep Denver at bay.
GOAL: right after the power play expires, Jared Wright springs on a breakaway and scores.
1-1 game with 6:59 left in the first.
And just like that, Sam Court takes an interference penalty. ASU back on the kill.
Huge penalty kill for the Sun Devils. They faced the No. 1 power play in the nation on a 5-on-3 for 1:07 and killed off both penalties.
Ty Murchison takes a holding call and sends the No. 1 power play in the nation on the ice.
12:41 to go in the opening period.
This is the loudest I've heard Mullett Arena since the Michigan series back in October. Full student section tonight.
