I rly want someone to write an essay or make a video about this fandom (and maybe relate it to how fandoms in general have become the default and they're all insane), it's so fascinating how weird this specific one is

Twitter and Instagram are where I see them

Twitter especially, b/c I have a few mutuals who watch it and post about it and comment on the fandom and the peculiar culture it has

I need someone to make a video essay on the fanbase of The Pitt, it might actually be the most unhinged one I've ever seen

Nothing has a good fandom and this is partially just recency bias on my part, but they talk like fucking QAnon people about the irl actors/writers, it's morbidly fascinating

that seems a bigger cultural barrier than the sincere belief in IP law, I think

like it's hard to exaggerate how much the phrase "how companies treat IP they control reflect the collective will of the creators who made it" would get you laughed out of the room in the west

I've been following this discourse out of a morbid curiosity, trying to figure out where a lot of the core disconnect comes from. While the obvious one is an absolute, rigid faith in laws, the other, bigger one is seeing as companies themselves as being creators?

Pac-Man and the arcade greats still whip ass. The few things I can think of that were "good in their day" are PC games where the resolution or input/control constraints of the time are anathema to today (think old RTS' that are native to DOS and don't support hotkeys)

I think I'm starting to become an absolutist on the take that games don't age. Something that was good back in the day will probably be good now, with very few exceptions

Yeah. I don't even dislike the second half but we can admit it kinda felt like the director just said 'alright we gotta get this moving' at points

then we get a deluge of "Sadly, it seems the Liberals have shattered Canada's immigration consensus. Now what?"

like obvious material reality exists and this was probably inevitable with our real estate nightmare, but it feels like a very intentional thing done by our awful media landscape!

My hot take I'll go to the grave with is there was a lot of consent manufacturing around the anti-immigrant turn here. Not all of it, maybe not even most of it, but I saw years of "Are the Liberals risking Canadians souring on immigration?" stories non stop, until it finally happened and

It sucks that every online space for a media property is like this now, almost without exception and it's something I really chafe against

Like no I don't consider myself in the "CnC fandom", I'm just here for occasional or potential news updates on a franchise I love; no more tbh

were that the "Metaphor Refantazio Fandom" isn't very active and like ... what do you want, here? It's a (very good!) single player game you play once, digest for a bit after, and then move past until you feel like doing a replay

I don't get the need for 'more' than that?

A thing that's been making me feel increasingly alienated as years go on is I don't really understand fandom culture, specifically the part where you continue engaging with a community/discussions about a game long after your time with it is over

I saw a poster talk about how disappointed they

I think a lot of problems of why the web sucks now are downstream of the digital barons saying "I want the web to be a public square - a few websites that everyone has to share" instead of a more siloed and segregated experience and this is a big, big one of them

First major game for 2026 down: Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth. A good (?) game I had a lot of thoughts about so I wrote some of them down. Trying something new, but was fun setting it all up and writing it out:

The amount of blood I've had taken in the last 2 months is ridiculous, but on the bright side I've probably got the lowest microplastics of my peers now

I have to respect his mom tbh; getting some percocet for him is the swindle of the century

I would love to get into Lego big time but fuck me the prices are so unjustifiable for mass produced plastic bricks

or idk if this is 'new' (last 8 years) development and fandom culture has permeated gaming communities and brow beaten the older, cynical culture

just as toxic either way, imo

idk why the stigma of game subreddits is to be hellishly bashful places - my overwhelming experience with them is they're all positive to the point of toxicity and become a no negativity allowed space where reasonable gripes/critique are thrown into that bucket

(no smoke to your friends and anyone who genuinely loves the lifestyle - it works for them and that's fantastic)

Feel like making it a content mill for yourself would
1) Kill your passion for it by making it an obligation more frequent than you want to do it organically
2) Would turn into that "my lizard's instagram" video levels of stress over maintaining it

I got so stoned at a Mets game once I compared the Jumbotron to the top screen of a Nintendo DS bc it had “a bunch of useful contextual information” and the field to the bottom screen bc “it’s where the game is actually played”

The way it's becoming the norm for people to censor their posts like they're on Maplestory nowadays is so fucking embarrassing

I don't even think the filter/censor stuff is true; just an over exaggerated urban legend, and even if it were, still not worth doing it to very serious subjects
