Nothing has a good fandom and this is partially just recency bias on my part, but they talk like fucking QAnon people about the irl actors/writers, it's morbidly fascinating

like it's hard to exaggerate how much the phrase "how companies treat IP they control reflect the collective will of the creators who made it" would get you laughed out of the room in the west

I've been following this discourse out of a morbid curiosity, trying to figure out where a lot of the core disconnect comes from. While the obvious one is an absolute, rigid faith in laws, the other, bigger one is seeing as companies themselves as being creators?

Pac-Man and the arcade greats still whip ass. The few things I can think of that were "good in their day" are PC games where the resolution or input/control constraints of the time are anathema to today (think old RTS' that are native to DOS and don't support hotkeys)

I think I'm starting to become an absolutist on the take that games don't age. Something that was good back in the day will probably be good now, with very few exceptions
