Tuesday Meditatio
Sparrows are of even less value to the Now
( not a temple sacrifice)
& yet none falls to the ground
w o Divine Concern in the Eternal.
This tendering isn't an ‘experience’
it’s not a 'sign'
It’s the VALUE of a world's Life
& our Life
after accepting the Indwelling Christ
2/2 Tuesday Lectio Kelly’s Cary Lecture 1938 Germany
"It is the record of His life in God.
It is the record of His life in God
& it comes likewise to others
in heartbreaking acuteness.
1/2 Tuesday Lectio Kelly’s Cary Lecture 1938 Germany
"Have you experienced this tendering,
this concern even for the sparrow’s fall?
For this is not a peculiar experience of Jesus.
Neither is it an inference which we draw
regarding the extent of the watchful love of God. ...
"We call for responsible reporting that sheds a light on systemic injustices and highlights the voices of those most affected by them."
The Quaker Asylum and Refugee Network have signed this joint statement 👇
Today's winner of the Internet. Congratulations!
Monday Meditatio
Christian Nonviolence:
With the great unselfing
comes both universal & particular
responsibility for our actions in the world--
each one alone & yet also in Beloved Community,
we hold the tragedy in our hands
we carry the peace power & peace victory
carefully in our fingertips
4/4 Monday Lectio Kelly’s Cary Lecture 1938 Germany
"Were the experience not also
an experience suffused with radiant
peace & power & victory,
as well as tragedy,
it would be unbearable. "
3/4 Monday Lectio Kelly’s Cary Lecture 1938 Germany
"For a few agonized moments we may seem
to be given to stand within the heart of the World-Father
& feel the infinite sufferings of love
toward all the Father’s children,
& pain inflicted on them becomes
pain inflicted on ourselves.
2/4 Monday Lectio Kelly’s Cary Lecture 1938 Germany

outside ourselves & distributed
w breadth unbounded among all,
friends & so-called enemies. ...

“Before, our chief suffering,
the suffering about which we are disturbed,
was our own suffering.
The world’s arrows were thought to be aimed at us.
But w the great unselfing...

Have to agree with @revdaniel.bsky.social far more worried about the genocide. Human life is what we need to be talking about. Innocent people are being murdered.
We need to talk more about Liberation theology. It’s the way forward for the Church.
Thank you for your courage to publicly address abusive language.
Shocked by this heartbreaking number?
We aren’t.
Gun violence is the leading cause of death for children and teens in America — but we refuse to accept this as normal. Join us: Text READY to 644-33 to volunteer with Moms Demand Action.
I'd love to read something in a format other than Twitter posts from him on this; "the otherness of persons in the flesh is neutralized" is a banger.
“Like other product manufacturers in our country, companies that make guns should be held accountable when their products have extremely deadly consequences on American lives. This bill would establish reasonable expectations on the gun industry to put in place safer designs...”
SUNDAY MEDITATIO
Crushing soul-blindedness
rampant among the MadMen
of now;
wheeler-dealers
of money & women
In the Eternal, the Lamb’s War
continues unabated & unabashed.
Still & in the stillness,
Humble & in humility,
we nurture royal blindness:
to be God’s fool of faith & persistence.
4/4 Sunday Lectio Kelly’s Cary Lecture 1938 Germany
"In the figure of John Bunyan one says:
Why do men rake together the sticks & straws of the world,
when their heads are offered the crown of life!"
3/4 Sunday Lectio Kelly’s Cary Lecture 1938 Germany
"The self-seeking, so-called ‘successful man’,
who has missed the holy way,
who began to be a Mann
and ended by being a Kaufmann*,
is as saddening as the drunkard or the criminal. ...
*Cringe.... do better, Tom!

"To our easier sympathy w physical pain
there is added suffering because of the
soul-blindedness
which we see everywhere.
To see hatred poison a life is suffering indeed. ...
1/4 Sunday Lectio Kelly’s Cary Lecture 1938 Germany
"Overburdened men & women, blighted lives,
slaveries in all their modern forms,
nations & institutions in insane self-destruction,
& little children hoping for warmth
& love & opportunity [are all laid upon us]. ...

“The children are always ours, every single one of them, all over the globe; and I am beginning to suspect that whoever is incapable of recognizing this may be incapable of morality.” -James Baldwin
The Baldwin line about children gets so much mileage on social media that it risks becoming trite but I refuse to give into the cynicism because at the end of the day he’s 100% right
Saturday Mediatio
This is Christian nonviolence:
& embodied faith:
Don’t turn your back
don’t harden your heart
no--
soften, tender, feel, because
your vulnerability is your power
your suffering is your resilience
your Truth is your agency
your Love is your strength
it’s not a state secret.
4/4 Saturday Lectio Kelly’s Cary Lecture 1938 Germany
"But the Eternal Presence,
shining upon time, gives us,
not a tough protection,
but an exquisitely tendered spirit."
3/4 Saturday Lectio Kelly’s Cary Lecture 1938 Germany
"The sadness of the city-evils, the blighted lives we see,
the injustices, the pain & tears!
Without a protective covering of indifference,
it seems rational to say we cannot endure the world. ...
2/4 Saturday Lectio Kelly’s Cary Lecture 1938 Germany
"...sorrow & pain & still see the face of the Eternal Lover.
This is a hard saying, but worthy of all acceptation.
It is frequently said that to bear this world,
we must become toughened, callous, hard. ...

“It is an awful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
It was truly said by George Fox, “I was come up thru
the flaming sword into the paradise of God.”
But there is a point of vision from which one can look thru...
