The real downside of it being warm out is that you can’t tell who is gay by whether or not they are holding an iced coffee.

Home - The Marvellers New York Times-bestselling author Dhonielle Clayton makes her middle-grade debut with a fantasy adventure set in a global magic school in the sky, perfect for fans of Rick Riordan, Soman Chainani, and...

For “no real reason” I’m going to say how much I have loved the magic school, magical kids and meaningful exploration of history in @dhonielle.bsky.social’s Conjureverse series, in case anyone wants a series about magical kids.

2026 Theater Explorer

For the past few years, I’ve done a “year in theater” review in my OOO message at the end of the year.

This year, I decided to keep track of shows as the year goes on. So here is my little journal for the year…so far.

We are relieved that in Tincher v. Noem et al. the court has issued a preliminary injunction. The ACLU-MN is hopeful that it will prevent further First Amendment violations like the ones that have been harming Minnesotans since the start of “Operation Metro Surge.”

Trump says he's dropping push for National Guard in Chicago, LA and Portland, Oregon, for now President Donald Trump says he’s dropping — for now — his push to deploy National Guard troops in Chicago, Los Angeles and Portland, Oregon.

This is a huge win for the people of Portland, LA, and Chicago, and for the rule of law.

As this year comes to a close, we're grateful to the over 400,000 ACLU supporters who made it clear: Troops don't belong on our streets.

After a teen died at Pillen Family Farms, his mom grew frustrated that no one could say why. She requested tissue from his body to independently test. The county attorney said no. “My son is dead,” says Justy Riggs-Panther. “There ought to be answers.” 🔗 buff.ly/oy9OswZ

Scene from the Star Trek The Next Generation movie, "The One with the Flowey Ribbon Monster that Sends You To Nirvana." Picard, looking out of place in his uniform, is walking through a bougie Victorian home that is decorated for Christmas. There's a large Christmas tree filled with lights and bright colors, and a couple of ornate toy horses that aren't huge but aren't small either, and a large red and white candy cane? Sort of looks like a barber shop pole, and it extends through the whole picture, I think it's a carousel thing for the horse we discussed earlier in this alt text. Anyways, the rest of the house is just normal old fancy house stuff, furniture, drapes, chandelier, lamps, etc. No caption, but you know, because like, it's Christmas next week and all.

People are understandably commenting on Lwaxana’s sex drive but in this scene she indicates she not only sees Odo as the being he is but wants to enable him — even when it makes how different they are more explicit and extreme.

And that’s just beautiful.

Black text on a yellow background - This is Alice's friend Sandy Ho, posting. Per Alice's wishes, this message is being shared at the time of her passing.
Hi everyone, it looks like I ran out of time. I have so many dreams that I wanted to fulfill and plans to create new stories for you. There are a few in progress that might come to fruition in a few years if things work out. I did not ever imagine I would live to this age and end up a writer, editor, activist, and more. As a kid riddled with insecurity and internalized ableism, I could not see a path forward. It was thanks to friendships and some great teachers who believed in me that I was able to fight my way out of miserable situations into a place where I finally felt comfortable in my skin.
We need more stories about us and our culture.
You all, we all, deserve the everything and more in such a hostile, ableist environment. Our wisdom is incisive and unflinching. I'm honored to be your ancestor and believe disabled oracles like us will light the way to the future. Don't let the bastards grind you down. I love you all.

The trailblazing transgender rights activist Miss Major has passed away at the age of 78.

Miss Major was a lifelong organizer and participant in the ballroom scene. She took part in the 1969 Stonewall Riots and was injured by the police — but she kept fighting.

An illustration of Miss Major surrounded by candles with blue background and a famous quote of hers written in gold. The quote reads“I don’t need their permission to exist; I exist in spite of them. I want you to train and teach and love on and create families within my community and gender non-conforming people, so that we can understand that we have a culture, we have a history, we have a reason to be here. We have a purpose. We’re entitled to be loved, and seek happiness, and share that with the people that we care about.” -Miss Major Griffin-Gracy

BREAKING: A federal judge blocked the Trump administration's deployment of 200 Oregon National Guard members to Portland over the governor's objections.

This decision reinforces one of our country's core principles: The military has no place policing our communities.

there is a point here i want to amplify. the free speech defenders of the mainstream seem to have no awareness that actual free speech is often more fractious and destabilizing than civil and respectful. a society where speech is genuinely free isn’t the deferential space they want it to be.

Protecting Free Speech in the Face of Government Retaliation Since Charlie Kirk’s killing, the government has threatened to punish anyone who speaks ill of the conservative free speech activist. This violates the First Amendment.

The Trump administration is villainizing and punishing those who dare to express anything but unequivocal support for its political views.

Such censorship is profoundly harmful to a free society — but it can be stopped if we resist it together.
