🚨 #MCAtlanta Travel PSA 🚨

Take the MARTA from the airport for $2.50 and don’t waste money on a $60 Uber; take the gold line towards Doraville 9 stops to Civic Center and that will get you most of the way there. Runs pretty often.

See everyone at MagicCon!

After 16 years as a fixed gear weirdo, I finally got onto the track and came 2nd out of 2 in Cat 5 in all four races.

Ale made using a 1615 recipe. The English used to drink a thing called "small ale" a lot, which was a low ABV hop-less beer. Guy who wrote it says most people got more calories from ale than bread. I was interested in what it was like so I made a strong, middle, and small ale from the same mash.

It's nice to have something quick to play other than to just improve your infinite rank, though

I feel like this game mode exaggerates the difficulty of playing up in collection level. I have few Series 4/5 cards and that feels like a big deal in this mode where fewer cards are good.

Early in covid, I made an outfit copying a Moroni painting. The doublet there is a mockup which I later replaced, but I still haven't finished the new version of the pants. It reminded me of when I used to make anime cosplay but in these I work hard to use authentic materials, tools, and techniques.

Before and after the Warriors (like the movie) ride this summer. It's basically a scavenger hunt on bikes that starts in the Bronx at sunset and ends in Coney Island at sunrise. It ended up being 45-60 miles and despite a crash and a strategic blunder that cost us top 8 it was really fun.

Every year, people organize events called "Tuba Christmas" where you play Christmas music with dozens of other tubas. This year I played one conducted by my middle school director and I brought a pencil and valve oil and tried to be much more attentive in rehearsal than I ever was in school. Old pic

These are some 'hose' or 'netherstocks' I knit in imitation of the English techniques in the mid-late 16th century. Before these, people like Henry VIII wore bias-cut socks made of woven fabric. The color change reflects the technique of the re-knitting of feet sections used to repair aging socks

This doublet is an imitation of an original from Alpirsbach Germany. It is a rare surviving example of a linen doublet, originally made for a student at the monastery. With it was found the only known surviving example of a type of pants that was common for a while in Europe.

I made this jerkin as an imitation of an original in the Museum of London. Jerkins were a common layer worn over the doublet in much of 16th century Europe.
