Lovely visit up to the Lake District for my film screening of Britains Hidden Fishes had a look at Derwent Water thinking about the vendace swimming around and would of been rude to not visit a pub or to with the doggos. The bookshop in Keswick even had my fish book in which was nice to see.

This is the grey wagtail which is also yellow but not the yellow wagtail which is very yellow and not the pied wagtail which also has grey on it.
Surprise catch when running my pond dipping course at Attenborough Nature Reserve yesterday a lamprey! This is a ammocete so the larval form and hard to tell but probably a brook lamprey. The gravel pits are connected to the Trent which is likely how it got in,

I've worked with Hammond Drysuits Ltd for well over a decade now and my custom drysuit is still going strong they provide excellent repairs and services when it needs it but to be honest the suit is tough as nails which is handy for all the river work I do can't recommend enough.

Chapter ten of my book "The Great British River" is all about ponds! These are often created by the sides of rivers and offer a oasis for many dragonflies, amphibians and small fish.

I met Jeremy Wade a charity fishing match several years ago to see who could catch the smallest fish. It was great fun and have since fished many times with him and it also lead to him narrating my film "Britains Hidden Fishes"

I got to see plenty of these guys last week and will fight anyone who says that eiders aren't the best UK duck (FYI it would be pistols at dawn at a venue of my choosing)

Chapter six of my book "The Great British River" is all about Chalkstreams as they are almost uniquely English. It's our very own Amazon and we are destroying this precious habitat with sewage pollution, abstraction and all the other ususal suspects for river damage.

I've had to wait a year for this photo, I got the caterpillars sent to me, fed them up and then over wintered the pupua outside waiting for them to hatch. I now have several beautiful emperor moths Britain's only native silk moth species what stunners!
