I was thinking more of the post-Stonewall trans erasure, but that was way before my time so I only know it through stories that likely don’t capture the full picture. The gay men I know IRL have all been incredible allies. Thanks for having our backs!!!

Sadly there have always been folks in the gay rights movement who perfectly happy to throw trans people under the bus for more mainstream acceptance. It’s disappointing, but at this point hardly surprising.
He looks like a discount store John Seed
I imagine this will make it easier for state courts to rule against providers who suspended gender affirming care for trans youths? It sounded like the main hesitation justices in CO had were forcing Children’s Hospital of Colorado to play chicken with Trump.
Thank you!!!

Just finished my court hearing. I am now legally Bridget Plat!!!!
I…actually don’t know if he has it in a guide or not. He met up with us and took us there on a Keith Putirka field trip when I was an undergrad. From what I remember, there is a very large Cathedral Peak erratic up there.
Red Hills is a lot of fun in the right weather. I may have almost killed a couple of my coworkers by taking them there in August a few years ago.
I’m very partial to going through Wawona, and not just because I grew up of the south side of the park. There is just something about coming through the tunnel and all of a sudden the Valley unfolds before you. Plus Greg has a great stop on Turtle Done.

I like that you can kinda tell from the pictures which people are geologists just from passive body language.
The Artemis II astronauts got a similar crash course in geology in northern New Mexico!
I mean, Musk is a Rationalist and that’s basically their belief system.
That on top of the fact that, beginning next January, FEHB plans will be banned from covering any GAC, no exceptions. I’m trying to decide between dropping FEHB for a marketplace plan or just paying out of pocket. But at least then they couldn’t spy on my healthcare.
Yep. Saw an argument that technically OPM asking for the info isn’t a HIPAA violation, but FEHB carries disclosing it is. But my thought is how do we even know when they disclose our info? I wonder how hard that will make it to have standing to sue.
My 2015 Volt is a much earlier version of EV tech…and honestly for the things I don’t love about that car it’s so practical. It’s dated, the battery only ever had a ~36 mile range, and it can’t use fast chargers but for what it is it’s incredibly practical and reliable. Next car will be an EV.
I’m trying to convince my line officer to make me available for fire assignments this season because of how dire things look. So for I haven’t been participating successful.
new fun drinking game: take a shot every time a coworker says, “i’m scared for this fire season”
(please don’t do this. you’ll be teleporting to a waffle house by 10am)
One of the true drawbacks of writing secondary world fantasy is that sometimes the character /really/ wants to say "JEEsus FUCKing CHRIST"
I imagine this is also an issue for white papers, which can be invaluable sources in many situations?
There is a lot to be said for the placement of that cross…

In 1845, Friedrich Engels documented the conditions of the English working class in Manchester and articulated a concept that the workers themselves had already named: social murder. ...
Every element of this framework maps onto what is happening to transgender people in the U.S. right now.
I remember when the USFS sent out an email saying that they were going to quit painting agency trucks green for environmental issues. They even had a slogan - ‘we’re going green by longer being green.’ The actual reason was that the custom color paint cost more.
I had a colleague say the same thing today
Unless you know them really well, just act normal. Like honest to god. Refer to them as they prefer, that goes a sadly long ways.
A law that turns a basic human necessity into a crime reveals calculated cruelty aimed at harming and humiliating the trans community, writes John Casey.

The framing of the article misses the point - it’s not that the news researchers are exposed to is driving anxiety, but rather that our lived experience reflect what’s in the news. It can’t be that simply abstracted.
Almost like we are still people who exist as part of a broader society…
