Funny thing is, console sales were never the metric for success. MAUs, Live service, and subscriptions were always the metric. Console sales don't matter if no one is staying and consistently spending in that ecosystem. This is why PS wanted to double down on live service so bad.

This is pure hopium folks. I dont know anything. I just really want Silksong this year cause Hollow Knight was such an amazing game!

The great thing about this business strategy is users dont have to switch platforms per say. Its to get them spending in the ecosystem. Whether its PC, mobile, cloud, or consoles, any game that is an Xbox title being played there is a user playing in that ecosystem.

Its done to get MAUs and to bring more people into the ecosystem. MAUs have always been the metric but a lot of people and media focused only on console sales. Its about getting more users into your ecosystem and keeping them there to spend. Multiplat helps with that & fighting increased dev costs
