I’m undecided about whether to go for pixelfed or flashes. Was there something that attracted you more to flashes?

I had the honor of doing a studio visit with Mark at his flat in east London many years ago now. He showed me an incredible archive of postal art built over decades, a a unique DIY punk aesthetic and often playful approach full of passion and commitment 💌 here’s to the king of stamps 💮

Oh wow, so cool! I really want to do this but i think it would interfere with Finnish language immersion. Would be so fun to surprise my dad with the language of his childhood!

I understand that museums are under increasing financial pressure, so why would they get an independent to do anything they have done internally? So they get people like me to do the bare minimum for maximal extraction.
combining processes of cybernetic divination with mystical knowledge making, the systems that are set in motion are both a self-reflective analogy for AI and a challenge to a predisposed idealisation of AI as a rational tool." 3/3

Congratulations #JennaSutela and #StefanieHessler on being selected for the Finnish Pavillion at 61st Venice Biennale! I feel lucky to call Jenna a collaborator and am currently writing a chapter for my PhD on her work. Here's an extract continued in comments : 1/3
Yep, Signal better than Telegram. At the moment I seem to just be adding more messaging services rather than getting rid of any 😵💫
Thanks for recommendation, I heard of pixelfed or similar then lost the reference! Will look into it and try to bring more over from insta. I even tried to instigate a shift away from WhatsApp in various groups as that’s owned by Meta. Feels like uphill struggle but worth pursuing the exodus!
Of course. Have you got an account on alternative image sharing platform?
Is anyone else finding it dreadfully difficult to stay off insta? It feels like business as usual again, what happened? It didnt get to a point where a critical mass of people who left, as I imagined it might be.
yes please 🖤 🆓
I have come to notice that the imagery around patient care, getting tested and charity fundraising is noticeably White. Cancer is coded White “It is this simple-and this complicated. Cancer does not discriminate, and neither should cancer care.” (Balanean et all 2024)
I have noticed as a cancer patient how much the material directed at patients and also getting yourself checked is so White. "Cancer does not discriminate, and neither should cancer care" (DOI: 10.6004/jnccn.2023.7078 5/5
You are now living in your nightmare and from that point onwards it’s the stuff of cinema in your head. When you close your eyes you can see cells rushing around your body, lodging themselves in little crevices and starting to multiply. In a bad, monstrous way 4/5
The metaphor is almost too much, for White people, that the monstrosity you see in other people, those poor bald people with cancer who you take pity on, you are them. So when you are told you DO have cancer, it is an actual living nightmare 3/5
How many people suffer from the anxiety that they have cancer? It’s a kind of shameful anxiety (at least I was ashamed before I had a diagnosis) which I suspect is one of the most common anxieties that exists 2/5
