I think the relative importance of the Columbian exposition and me moving here is up for debate but the last one is clearly an improvement

Last two stars on the Chicago flag are kind of lame so I am proposing an update

Happy birthday Rome! According to Roman tradition, Romulus founded the city #OnThisDay in 753 BC.

Here's a mosaic of Romulus's early years being raised by a wolf (who had a great smile) #BeforeTheyWereFamous

This is exciting because it's the earliest archeological evidence for the kind of guy that loudly takes contrarian takes for attention

"Oh you find the Catalog of the ships repetitive and boring? It's actually my favorite part of the Iliad, bury me with that shit"

I saw a lot of first-time 'e-bike smiles' at the weekend's @cyclingelectric.bsky.social Demo Day, but no bike nor trike delivered like vanRaam's Fun2Go - a specialist vehicle designed to be a 'social tandem'.

These are excellent tools for care projects.

This is just so cool. A Roman-era mummy recently excavated in Egypt contained a fragment of papyrus with a section of the Iliad.

Oh boy- that reminds me of when i was working for senator Reid. I had to pull a well known Senator aside to ask him not to use that word anymore. Trying to explain what it meant to was rough. I was embarrassed af. I found out what it meant when my staff showed me the definition on urban dictionary

The moon landing was faked, as we all know. It was a Kubrick joint. They made a model of the moon's surface, a kind of diorama about as wide as a truck. They made a few of them, actually, for reshoots. That's why they also made multiple models of the so-called astronauts: a bunch of nine-inch Neils.

URBANIST: [taking a selfie video] Hey folks! I'm here at the now-CAR FREE Pike Place Market
-I'm walking around this iconic local spot without having to worry about BEING MURDERED BY A CAR
-Notice how peaceful and calm everyth--ope! [they bump into another person taking a selfie video)
URBANIST 2: Sorry! I'm just documenting how nice it is here without cars, for my urbanism blog!

Unironically we need a tankie reboot where living in the Soviet Union kicks ass and America just looks worse and worse as the show goes on. We've had so much American propaganda why not a little Soviet propaganda?

Mother Needs by Elena Zhang
The children were coming, and she needed to be ready. Needed to build skin, layer by layer.
Cushions of dermis so thick she could see the strata over time, like a canyon wall clock. She softened wrinkled leather into supple bruised peach peels.
Salted her abscission. When they came, they came hungry. Stripped it all away. One bite at a time.
Revealed orange sunsets, pink blushes. There was so little of her left, dripping sweetly and alone amongst many. In the end, she was glad. Now they would all see how raw she was underneath.
