It started great, brought in a ton of traffic through the community. But not to the local stores. The retailer slowly wiped out an entire strip of stores, never to be seen again. The jobs disappeared, alternative buying options gone, the only choice was to travel or buy there.

Reminds me when a big box retail warehouse came into my hometown. Promising new jobs, money for the community they built in, and increased property value
