have reflected a lot over why I react so strongly to inattentive and speeding drivers. I realized that I lost so much because of them and others must have, too. And still do. It became overwhelming. I created killedbycars.com to name my losses and maybe inspire others to do the same.

No jobs. No affordable housing. Criminalize houselessness. Problem solved.
If your younger self gave you a pep talk, what would they say?
I go first: "Go back to that desk and make stuff, remember how much you loved doing it!"
Odd things I love in the US as an immigrant:
Public toilets. Particularly outhouses in national forest campsites.
As a European I've seen everything when it comes to public toilets. Seriously, women, SIT DOWN, DON'T SQUAT!
The cleanest outhouse? Knoll Lake Campsite in Tonto Forest, Arizona.
How would that look like without ads and half time show?
So it's got a paw print inside? Lovely πΎπ
In between books is not a place I like to be in for too long.
When you cannot get a word in with your partner, manager, colleagues or friends. When life is too much or you got cut off or tailgated on your way home again but that SUV. When an AI Bot is not enough and you need the presence of a fellow human. I am here for you.
A drawing of a purple turtle sitting on top of two round grey rocks in a pond with grass left and right. The turtle is smiling with eyes closed.
Watching my tortoise is one of the most peaceful and impressive activities. So much to learn from her wisdom, formed through hundreds of millions of years of evolution. Taking it slow, for example.
Feeling so rich right now with our pepper harvest so far. Other than roasted pepper pesto, salsa, taco sauce, freezing and preserving, what else could we do with these riches?
Your comment or like could make a huge difference for the author. They might be questioning themselves whether anyone is paying attention. Whether anyone will ever use the service they offer.
And then they see your kind words and their day is made. That is how powerful you are π€.

A desert landscape with some grassy patches under a cloudy sky with a dead, burnt Saguaro cactus, most of it lying on the ground, a 3ft/1 meter stump remaining.
A trail in a desert landscape under a cloudy sky. Mountains in the background, grasses and burnt trees along the trail as well as a fallen burnt Saguaro cactus along the trail.
Death is all around us. Such as the burning of a large desert area that killed several Saguaros who had been around way over 100 years. They're not build to withstand fire. now their death will nurture life all around them. They house and feed so much life. There's life everywhere. Even in death.
For all of you who are flooded with New Years wishes, old year summaries or overwhelmed by all the things still left to do today, here is a minute of silence in the presence of a human being.
May 2026 be kind to you, my fellow humans.
Re-read it this year. And it made me understand the term "Classic". It was as meaningful to me at 50 as it was in my early teens. In a different way but still. Timeless.
"I will not be another battle you have to fight." Andarna, The Fourth Wing
Nothing wrong with that. The more you read, the higher your standards and expectations. Plus, when you stop reading a book you do not like, you'll have more time for the ones you like!
I'll probably finish "A Man Called Ove". Realizing with every page, that I AM Ove π«£
A desert mountain range pre sunrise. Dark outline of the mountains and a tree in the foreground on the right. Orange light is coming up and pink-violet clouds are on the sky.
Sometimes, just feeling an emotion helps. I can't make others pay attention while driving or drive more carefully. I can only do that myself, be aware that others aren't and let my anger be anger.
Have a wonderful day everyone.

A white dog with black ears and black dots is sniffing on dog poop on a dirt trail.
A dirt trail on a desert property with short green shrubs left and right and a mostly blue sky.
Has anyone found creative, non-aggressive ways to encourage folks to pick up their dogs' poop? I'm trying to be more chill over the daily poop on a trail in our neighborhood.
One of my dogs had an idea, but I wouldn't let him eat dog poop that is not his own π. #dogs #dogpoop #acceptance #serenity
A desert landscape in the morning. A tree in the center and green shrubs around it. Some grass with dew on the ground. The sun in the background.
Dew in the desert is magical.
