Agreed.

The way those headlines are worded, it feels like the writers are trying to blame Juha Miettinen for the crash causing inconvenience to a more famous driver.

Which is rude, disrespectful to Mr Miettinen - and completely misses the point.

Condolences to his team, family and friends.

Japan reveals new name for 40C-and-hotter days after blistering summer The term - kokushobi - translates to

This speaks volumes about the state of the climate.

We don't tend to associate Japan with extreme temperatures, but they've felt the need to coin a new word to describe days with 40 C or higher.

Having already coined words for 30 C or higher, and 35 C or over.

Getting on with coursework - I'm now "only" 4/5 of a unit behind 😂

Catching up steadily but surely.

Also thinking of the Forest fans who witnessed it.

A friend of mine was there that day. He still avoids going back to Sheffield, even for work, and he's not the only one.

But it's only in the last couple of years that Forest realised their fans needed help dealing with the memories/trauma.

I *was* about to write a post wondering how this Liverpool - PSG match was still 0-0 on the night.

And Dembele has just scored for PSG 🤣

0-3 to PSG on aggregate.

Who was that interrupting the silence at Anfield? 😩

You don't do that, whichever team you support.

Shame on whoever it was.

Not sure if the incident is still going on, but the X10 had to take the scenic route back to Telford earlier, as the A5 was closed at #Shrewsbury.

We were on a double-decker and the driver had to double-check with the depot if it would fit under the bridge on the old A5.

Totally agree.

It's especially weird when you think how many men currently manage women's football teams - you don't see people bullying or trolling them.

I wish her all the best. It would be especially good if Union now go on a spree of wins and shut the sexist idiots up.

Well done Hungary 👏

Hopefully this sets an example.

No-one likes or wants politicians who suck up to Russia.

I came home with so many books today that my arms hurt 📚

Borrowed 6 from the library and found 7 more in various charity shops 😎

The library loans have 6 weeks on them as said library will be closed for refurbishments for two.

😂 Very good.

(On that note, I wish we could award ourselves some genuinely fantasy Fantasy F1 points based on what we think/would like to have happened in these two).

Light relief for this evening: finding different language versions of "Hakuna Matata" from the Lion King soundtrack on Deezer.

(from both the original and the "live-action" remake)

"Pumbaa! Pas devant les enfants!!"

He can't say "farted" in any language 🤣🤣🤣

It does a bit.

We're so used to thinking of Max and GP as a team, like Lewis and Bono felt unbreakable.

Does this suggest Max is intending to leave Red Bull/F1 at the end of the year?

Can't imagine GP would join another team if Max was going to stay.

1 week ago 0 0 0 0

It says a *lot* about the state of Red Bull Racing when even GP is going to be leaving 😮

And does that make it more likely that Max might also leave - not just the team, but #F1 itself?

Especially given that we know he's not happy with the current cars.

And spectacularly hypocritical for Republicans who claim to be "Christian".

Personally, I'd like to see the Pope excommunicate the entire US Evangelical church, just to make the point that they are already completely out of touch with actual Christianity.

I did briefly have the same thought, but then figured GP leaving may also indicate Max potentially leaving F1 if he's still not happy/not winning by the end of the year.

And if he's having more fun/success in sportscars.

I can't decide if that's unfortunate timing or the Beeb seriously thinking they might be useful... 😬

Currently trying to draft a letter to my local MP. Not sure if it'll do much good, but they need to know that us ordinary people are sick of our goverment appeasing that senile fart.

The fact that most of us went to bed last night genuinely afraid of what we might wake up to, or whether we would wake up at all...

All because of a narcissistic, senile man at war with reality itself.

And our spineless Prime Minister still won't condemn that man.

Last night, I had a conversation with my Dad about topics that I honestly never thought my generation would even *need* to think about.

Topics that should have been left behind with the Cold War and all that.

2026 should not feel like 1962.

F1 is scheduled to have 3 races in America this year.

They need to be cancelled ASAP.

World Cup matches scheduled for America need moving too.

No-one wants matches decided by which team was allowed into the country and who wasn't.

I hope I'm wrong, but you can see it being a possibility 😩

Avoiding the news as I can't stand the sight of that shithead over the pond.

And can't fathom how he is still in office.

While our spineless Prime Minister effectively helps the US commit war crimes.

A lawyer - of all people! - should know better.

Agreed.

Even when matches are on ad-free channels like BBC1, there's usually 3-4 different gambling companies being advertised on the electronic boards round the side of the pitch.

What sort of example does that set to kids at matches with their parents?

Either that or Liverpool will have one of their "Special European Nights" and make PSG look daft.

Football can be weird like that 😁

On the subject of Edge singing - I can't believe I forgot about "Numb" 😳

Which also features the even rarer sound of Larry singing.

2 weeks ago 0 0 0 0

Also, nice to hear Edge getting to sing a whole song by himself.

I think you have to go back to "Van Diemen's Land" on Rattle & Hum for the last time he sang a complete song by himself?

Did he sing a whole song on "Songs of Surrender"? #U2

"Gloria", another of their more openly religious songs, is also one of my favourites.

It helps that it has a decent tempo. And when they play it live, we all sing along, Latin chorus and all.

That's the beauty of music. We forget our differences and just sing.

Enjoying the new #U2 EP "Easter Lily".

Bono has that knack of writing spiritually/religious-themed songs that are accessible and enjoyable even to an atheist like me.

"COEXIST" is a good example of that - giving his perspective without preaching at the listener.

It's a rare skill.

Absolutely.

Even as a Danny Ric fan, you could see he wasn't up to his earlier standard. I wondered if part of it was that early-20s era of cars perhaps not suiting his driving style.

Second leg of the Women's Champions League tie between Bayern Munich and Manchester United - and again, United ladies only get a live text with no radio or TV coverage 😩

Contrast that to both legs of the Arsenal v Chelsea ladies tie being on TV.

Everything revolving around London. Again.
