Moreover, take solace in the knowledge that plenty of people will just confidently publish a bad first draft. If you’re cognizant enough to work on a second draft or hire an editor, you’re better than most already.
Kill the impulse that you’ll be afraid it’s bad, it probably will be. And then your 2nd draft will be better because you’ll know what it is now that it exists. Then an editor will ask you some questions and your eyes will pop out your head with potential you didn’t know was there. It all starts bad.
