Hospice was never built for kids.
And every night, families are absorbing the consequences of that design choice.

Flashback to 2009 when medical professionals live posting from a national conference was not a thing yet.
Here is the @pallimed.org

This was a hard week to be Iranian-American. There was also connection, joy, reunions, collaboration w/many incredible hospice & palliative people from across country & world. Soaking up joy alongside sorrow, & hoping to be small part of creating a kinder more compassionate world. #hapc #hpm #hapc26

Hi #hapc25 and #palliative care community; have you heard about Dr. Richard Payne? He was a true pioneer and paved the way for many of us caring underserved patients in #hpm. A pioneer, IDT mentor and so so much more. Let’s learn and celebrate him. www.thehastingscenter.org/news/dr-rich...
Hello #hapc25 👋
If you are new to Bluesky, I made a tip sheet to get familiar with this new platform.
There is actually a growing #hospice and #PalliativeCare group of people here.
When people ask how I do my job because it’s “so sad” I always tell them about how much joy and laughter there is too. Joy is how we survive horrible things. Joy is part of healing. Joy is part of grief and pain. We will need lots of joy and laughter over the next few years. #pedpc #hapc
Topic 2 for #hapc chat:
Please share some of your favorite tips/feeds/accounts/starter packs/whatever for Bluesky with the #hospice and #PalliativeCare community!
#hapc late to introduce myself:patient partner in this end of life space (along with Health Literacy and Shared Decision Making) It was @ctsinclair.bsky.social and the #hpm chat that got me hooked.

Helping the people not here yet, figure out that they need to be here.
We had to blow some dust off the keyboard and switch the computer on and off. But the blog still can post.

For new BlueSky users, please consider flipping the toggle to require Alt Text on all photos that you post. I did it when I started here and it did not take long to get used to it.
It helps to make this community more inclusive.
