Back to the simple natural order of things…….. not human arrogance based on destruction of our water, air, environment for profit…… for the 1%
1 year ago today I was terminated by DOGE from USAID where I worked to get humanitarian aid into Gaza. Everyone I knew across almost 10 years of my career across 3 prior jobs became unemployed as well. My entire LinkedIn network suddenly became "open to work"
I'm a one issue voter. Punishment.
I'm on year 25 of exactly the same task. I've made zero progress (and you can guess how that last word is pronounced, too).
These fucking people wake up in the morning and ask "how can we do some worse dictator shit than yesterday"
It’s unhealthy that once every month or two the president says something so monstrous it turns your inside and then nothing happens
Link to the ruling. I am not sure I’ve seen a judicial opinion with this many tweet screenshots in it before storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
Every presidential administration gets accused of corruption—sometimes with good reason, sometimes not. But the corruption of the Trump administration is of a magnitude that is not only without precedent in American history but so large and brazen as to be difficult to wrap one's head around.
The thing is, the miasma of social media & the negativity it fosters *also* insured that almost no one was aware of the incredible advances in climate & energy policy under Biden.
It's not *just* the economy. It's everything. That's the point: the info environment rewards doom & resentment.
That's the thing about competitive authoritarianism: The “authoritarianism” is serious – and so is the “competitive” part. Politics hasn’t ended in such regimes. The rules have been changed significantly, giving a massive advantage to the ruling regime; but the political conflict isn't over.
Anyway: People flirting with “Orbán is not an authoritarian” / “Democracy was never in peril” takes are either incredibly ignorant or pursuing an ideological agenda that makes them propagate mendacious nonsense. Either way, it's disqualifying. Just like all the stupid "democratic minimalism" stuff.
Swalwell and Gonzales gone in one day, that’s a good days work.
Anyone who says votes don't matter is LYING to you.
VOTE! Vote in every election, in every city, county, and state.
Vote Republicans out at EVERY level of government.
Fascism exists only because people let it.
Support Democrats and get rid of the fascists in charge.
Orban is not conceding because he's honourable. He's conceding because his defeat is so comprehensive even he can't pretend he won.
Why I couldn’t stay quiet when I learned of the allegations against Congressman Eric Swalwell: youtu.be/BAMHEsshU80
Imagine trusting science to bring astronauts to the moon and back but not trusting science to develop safe vaccines.
Guys, there is no shortage of mediocre white dudes out there. If your electoral politics require you to vote for some mediocre white dude, and one of them turns out to be awful, say a sex pest or a Nazi or some other kind of milkshake duck, you can just find you another one. There's no shortage.

An mRNA treatment for PANCREATIC CANCER was in trials, among many other uses. Choosing to end this research is choosing to sentence millions to an early, painful death

Contrary to public perception a huge % of pregnant teenagers in the 1990s were impregnated by adult men. The younger they were, the larger the average age gap between mother and father was. Fixing teen pregnancy was in part a clampdown on statutory rape. That's what conservatives want to reverse.
“If they can automatically enroll men into the draft at 18, they can automatically register Americans to vote at 18.
Ask yourself why they won’t”

I knew it was bad but really didn’t appreciate it was quite this bad

I'm imagining an emerging technology that enriches workers and is based on stolen corporate patents while also driving up the cost of private jet fuel. How quickly would that technology be regulated out of existence and its creators imprisoned?
I'm 40 been protesting and organizing since I was 16, I've organized a union consisting entirely of people in their late teens and early 20's, I professionally organized students for a decade.
I'm STILL around engaged young folks and families.
So here's my perspective (cont):
Thank you!!!
And how are things with you?
We are in a weird time where Big Tech companies think it's fine to commercially deploy AI models that will frequently output things that we humans do not consider true. Maybe that's commercially viable for them (I have my doubts), but we for damn sure shouldn't be accepting it in schools.
Boston Globe mock front page from April 9, 2016. Date says April 9, 2017, with giant headline “DEPORTATIONS TO BEGIN” and “Markets sink as trade war looms.”
Ten years ago today, in April 2016, the Boston Globe printed a satirical front page imagining a future Trump administration. The page was called "alarmist," "hyperbolic," "dystopian." But we’ve put up with so much since then it now looks like . . . a slow Thursday?
Take a moment to remember how weird it is our president communicates with us through a bottom-tier social media site called Truth Social. It’s like if he governed from the comment section of a porn site.
