Just discovered this author. I'm jealous of the book trailer. 🥰

This district is nearby. I'm still angry that Swalwell knocked off Stark in the old CA-13. I don't live in current CA-14 anymore, but I'm curious who will run and who will advance to the general.

I am blessed to be at an age where when I googled Looksmaxxing, I immediately closed my laptop.

Reconsider my support for Porter over Becerra. My apologies for the confusion. Yes, please cover CA more, not just our pervs. We have all the money, people, and cultural cache. Our beaches are quite nice, too, IMO.

Big IF TRUE. I don't know if this is true, or if it's truly coalition splitting. But I'm keeping an eye on it now. The gov primary is crowded, but at some point support is going to coalesce around one or two Dems. Good to know the positions of the players who stand a shot at getting into that slot.

I trust Jorts on labor issues. If Porter is shilling for the mega-farms that post the Pro Dam and anti-Pelosi sign boards along Central Valley highways, then she's losing the folks who will open their wallets to support her. Those farmers won't—and if they are, she's not a Dem anymore. IF TRUE.

A commenter and I are in the "Some Pig" thread rn wondering if Wonkette will start covering CA more, not just when we shitcan a sexpest. He's boosting Becerra, and I Porter. But this thread is making me reconsider.

Oh, are we going to see the governor's race feature more prominently on Wonkette?

Had a really good convo yesterday with a friend whose spouse works in "AI"—downstream from OpenAI and Anthropic. I learned that the prognosticated bubble explosion isn't trickling down to the employees who will be most disaffected if it comes to pass.

"AI" is weird. And the shell games around its boosters are even weirder.

I don't understand why anyone—even with a poor understanding of "AI"—thinks comparing this to the dotcom bubble is a flex. I graduated college the year before the collapse. It was an awful time to be a NCG. With companies having no shame about layoffs, it's gonna be worse this time.

The legacy media cannot de-legitimize No Kings fast enough. They are pathologically incapable of understanding why their their subscriber numbers are cratering. It's almost like they have a political agenda ...

No surgery! At least for now. The damage is worse than I thought. The bone that chipped off is used to hold a ligament in place. But it will likely heal with a slight bent to the toe.

No pain last night! Whew! The UC gave me a ortho shoe that I love. It's making walking so much easier—not faster. Not going to drive today, or this week. T is doing all pick ups and drop offs.

I'd say "get help" but that's actually what I wish for him. Good Rod, money really can't buy happiness.

X-ray of distal and proximal phalanges of my big toe on my right foot. In the x-ray, a triangular chip of the distal phalanx can be seen to no longer be attached to the rest of the bone.

Confirmed via x-ray. Broken! A chip of my big toe's bone (where the arrow is pointing to in the pic) is completely detached. Ice. Ibuprofen. See a podiatrist later this week and determine whether I'll need a pin.

Lots of pain last night in places that didn't hurt yesterday. This morning, in the light, I see the tell-tale bruising of breaks. So—broken!

Did I break my toe today? Maybe. Maybe not. I'm not screaming in pain, but my big toe is swollen up like a balloon and I can't walk on it. So for now it's ice. Ice. Ice.

Ditto! Selfishly, I have an expensive part I've ordered out of the UK but hasn't shipped yet. I hope this means the tariff is null.

The purpose of a system is what is does is the foundational thought to a philosophical ethic I occasionally ruminate. It helps me clarify moral actors from immoral ones, regardless of what's in their heart.

Whew. A certain private university near me is requiring its staff to use whatever LLM the university purchased a license for. Don't know if the mandate extends to academics, as well.

Are they mandating you use it?

After, I re-watched School Reunion with Tenant, Piper, and Sladen. The CG was only barely better despite a decade between. But, the teleplay was extremely tight; all the WTFs happen too fast to linger on. Romance and Comedy were firing on all cylinders. Seems like the BBC learned a lot.
