Year 7 students were at the Awards Ceremony for the Warwickshire Book Awards this morning, listening to authors, celebrating amazing books, and enjoying a joyful finale to their reading challenge.

For #internationalwomensday, we recognise the achievements of women everywhere and encourage our students to dream boldly, learn courageously, and uplift one another.
Today’s highlight was definitely the World Book Day Character Hunt, where students eagerly searched for staff wearing character badges, swapping clues and celebrating each discovery. Many happy hunters walked away with books to continue their reading adventures!
📚Happy World Book Day! 📚 At our school, reading matters—not just for learning and excellence, but also for inspiring curiosity and creativity. Each key stage has hosted special Reading Assemblies where students share the books they love. Wonderful work from everyone involved!
Thank you to Peter L (Y12) for his brilliant book talk on On the Wall by Anne Fine. He led participating Year 7s in a discussion about book themes such as identity and consequences as part of the Warwickshire Book Awards. It was a lively, interactive session, and wonderfully attended too!
Today lunchtime, students were sampling stories like gourmet dishes and discovering new favourites. Some flavours may not have been to everyone's taste, but we definitely had a a full feast of fiction!

Welcome back after Half‑Term! Today Year 7s joined a lively book talk led by Alana (Y12) on The Line They Drew Through Us by Hiba Noor Khan, exploring culture, recent history, friendship and roots. It was a lovely time hearing some usually quiet voices speak up, showing the power of a great story!
Year 7 Book Awards Reading Challenge update: Our third Book Talk on Shrapnel Boys sparked interesting discussions and encouraged students to explore more historical fiction. It was our most attended book talk yet. Fantastic engagement all round! Thank you Joel S (Y12) for leading it.

Selected Year 7–9 students powered through a tough elimination round for the #NationalReadingChampionsQuiz yesterday—showing sharp memories, great reading, and a dash of guesswork! So proud of all who took part. Our finalists are set. West Midlands Heat, we’re coming for you!
Thank you very much for your book donations. We’ve received 61 so far! 📚✨ Our student library assistants have been busy sorting them, and they’d love more. The donation drive runs all through January, so please keep them coming. See the flyer for details.
We were delighted to host “Shakespeare’s Hidden Numbers” at the library, a fascinating talk by Rob Eastaway, author of Much Ado About Numbers. The session had students laughing and seeing Maths/The Bard in a whole new light. Thank you @kes-mathematics.bsky.social for this opportunity!

Our school’s theme of the week is Reading for Pleasure. We’re running reading assemblies, book donation drive, book quizzes and other planned activities, but there’s nothing like an impromptu reading sessions in the library at the start of the day! #readingforpleasure

Yesterday our Year 7s met @devkothari.bsky.social for an inspiring author talk! Students listened to her speak about her experience, and explored their imaginations and started crafting their own mysteries in a creative writing workshop with her afterward. Lots of smiles and stories all around!
Origami club has been quite active, look at the collection they’ve produced since they began! Get creative with the club on Monday lunchtimes at the library.
