Thank you for sharing this. 💕
We took many of her classroom books, that she had personally purchased for her students, to the Little Red Reading House last weekend, in the hopes that her legacy of supporting children’s literacy might continue.
I have just learned that my Grade 3 teacher, Mrs. Rokne has passed away. She was extremely beloved in my elementary and personally, she is basically entirely responsible for my love of fantasy books.
Congratulations!
We’re at @canconsffh.bsky.social this weekend!
Stop by and say hello and ask us what the heck we mean when we say that a Worldcon in Edmonton will be “North of Ordinary”!
How confident are authors about their rights related to copyright? Is the fear of navigating copyright preventing non-infringing ‘user’ activities? How can we mitigate the damage caused by copyright anxiety and chill?

Signed books - one message remains by Premee Mohamed inscribed with Here’s To Edmonton 2030!
We have a couple of signed @premeemohamed.com books remaining from last night.

The Sidewise Award for Alternate History is looking for new judges to join the award committee.
This is the first time in the 30 year history of the award that they've made an open call for awards judges.
I want to see an awards panel that represents the field.

If we're ever to win a Hugo, I'd really love it to be this year.
There are a couple of reasons:
First, I think we did some of our best work in 2024.
But the personal reason is that I'd like my mom (who was unexpectedly diagnosed with advanced cancer) to see us win a Hugo for best fanzine.
You can learn a lot about a city by its official symbols.
Edmonton just selected the black-billed magpie for our official bird. Here's why that's important:

Thanks for recognizing the “hidden labour” involved in this type of volunteer work, Paul, especially for posed photos. It’s always a pleasure to work with you.
