I was just told that I have to remove “climate” from the title of an ongoing grant if I want to keep it. And publications from that grant cannot include “climate” and other forbidden words. I can’t believe I’m writing this from the United States of America. #AcademicSky

I oversaw global health programs at @USAID.

They reached 100s of millions of people, added 6 extra years to the lifespan of children in partner countries, and were eradicating health threats worldwide.

What insanity and cruelty to break that.

Delivering ‘corridor care’ became my everyday experience as a junior doctor. It drove me to move into public health in the hope of changing the system for the better. Not sure I’ve managed that yet, but hoping I will one day.

Spent a long time last night reading this report in full and reading more about migrant families and maternity care. One situation that struck me was a previous stillbirth that was not followed up in subsequent pregnancy - & the woman went onto have another stillbirth. Opportunities missed. So sad.
