How's your Earth Day going? Check out this snapshot I just took of how Ontario's electricity is being generated 23.4% from gas, and 0.8% from solar, on a day that is sunny nearly everywhere in the province.

And oh, by the way... Happy Earth Day. I just wish there was more to be happy about today.

It's a beautiful sunny day in Ontario, except for the far north. At the moment, 23.4% of our electricity is being generated from natural gas and a paltry 0.8% from solar. This utter travesty is brought to you by the corrupt Ford government that is deep in the pockets of the fossil fuel industry.

I checked yesterday, when much of Ontario was sunny - only 1.7% of our electricity was coming from solar. Meanwhile, gas accounted for 18% - more than 10 times as much. The Ford government is in bed with the fossil fuel industry, and is mortgaging our future.

And he whines that he's the "most scrutinized person in the country"... Mark Carney and some others may beg to differ. In any case, he deserves much scrutiny, as he conducts a lot of government business in private, keeps his mandate letters secret, and is now moving to eliminate FOI requests.

For many, it will not be their first experience.

I'm currently rereading Super Agers. The chapter on CVD says that a trend towards lower mortality rates has reversed since 2019. Some explanations are offered, but there is no mention of COVID. I think there is strong evidence that COVID is a significant factor in CVD mortality - why the omission?
