Are you a trans person in BC who has been told your pharmacy will no longer be delivering your testosterone (or other medication?) as a result of the Health Professions and Occupations Act?

Analysis Finds That Google's AI Overviews Are Providing Misinformation at a Scale Possibly Unprecedented in the History of Human Civilization A new analysis commissioned by The New York Times suggests that Google's AI Overviews are wrong an astonishing percentage of the time.

This is catastrophic.

A graphic that reads: Source request: What does it look like when we let trans people thrive? When public systems support trans people? When health care is free and accessible, and spaces are affirming? What are the solutions for making trans lives better? What could trans utopia look like?

I am looking for specific stories of trans people from all walks of life across Canada who’ve been given space to not only survive, but thrive. People who are interested in speaking about how certain policies, systems, or resources have made their lives easier and better as trans people. Is this you or someone you know? Pop me an email at:

SOURCE CALLOUT 🏳️‍⚧️ ✨ (Please share!)

I'm working on a large print feature for later this year that asks a big question:

What does it look like when we let trans people thrive?

I'm looking to talk to a few everyday trans people from across Canada about what that idea means to them.

(Thread...)

I'll balance the political post with a photo of the great little goblin helping me work

Apologies for bringing JKR to your timelines, but this thread is so important.

Canada has always had tons of bigots, who subscribe to the same transphobia and racism evident in Poilievre's post. They just feel permission to say it out loud now.

This is what many of them of voting for.

It is not enough to avoid watching Harry Potter. You ALSO HAVE TO SUPPORT TRANSGENDER PEOPLE. You have to hire us, pay us, promote our work, donate to us, uplift us, defend us.

I'm so fucking tired of seeing constant posts about the transphobe trying to kill us and not material support for us.

Re: my last reposts

“Do not put money in the pocket of a woman who has sworn publicly to use it to disenfranchise vulnerable populations” is the smallest ask imaginable. It’s not oxygen, it’s not food. It’s television. You can do without. There are thousands of other shows for you to watch.

I suspect this won't apply to any of my friends on social media.

But if I do see you posting about watching the Wizard School trailer I will be blocking you.

Don't even watch it to dunk on it.

Just ignore the fuck out of it.

Please.

Adam Baldwin was literally *the* guy who named GamerGate and made it go viral. It was just some loser 4chan/incel YouTuber shit before then. They spammed him to get his attention because they knew he’s also a psycho loser and they wanted to make it go viral, and he did it. And it worked.

(1) Casey Means is a dreadful nominee and should not be confirmed.
(2) I don't have any desire to defend for-profit advertising of any kind.
(3) "Obesity is a national crisis" as a message both relies on and perpetuates bias against fat people.

A screenshot of the "AI Controls" settings of Firefox version 148 showing all AI "enhancements" blocked

I don't think I've actually been excited to update to the latest version of Firefox since the version number was in single figures, but the latest version - 148 - ships with a "switch off all AI" setting that I have swiftly enabled.

Any software that includes AI should have a kill switch like this

For anyone who hasn't been following just how extreme the disinformation campaign against fundamental human rights has become, there are 37 BC MLAs who today voted to abolish the entire Human Rights Code.

European Parliament Votes Overwhelmingly For "The Full Recognition Of Trans Women As Women" The resolution, though nonbinding, is a significant shot at those who seek to erode transgender rights on the continent.

In incredible news, the European Parliament has voted overwhelmingly for "The Full Recognition Of Trans Women As Women."

Even the center-right European People's Party voted for the declaration.

It will form a foundation for their position at the UN Commission on the Status of Women.

Our latest.

The Tumbler Ridge shooting is already fuelling anti-trans hate in Canada | Xtra Magazine Bad actors on the right are leaping to connect the shooter’s trans identity to the violence

NEW from me today:

Tumbler Ridge is mourning a horrific loss. But how the shooter's identity is being talked about online, and the dangerous links being made to trans people at large, will have resounding and dangerous impacts in the months and weeks to come.

It's like in a hiest movie when the kidnappers demand a helicopter. 😬

These chuds were at my workplace (a smaller BC university) earlier this week and are even more disgusting and unhinged in person. Absolutely vile and bigoted in every way you can imagine.

Shameful behaviour from Hootsuite, highly recommend cancelling your account and going elsewhere.

I had hoped if he won he'd pull in some labour/blue collar support but seeing that AI AMA does not give me much hope.

Glad to see the backlash, at least!

I'm curious what your playtime is! I've been replaying it before Silksong and have passed 60 hours with around 70% completion and feel like I'm very slow 😅

(My first playthrough from years ago ended around 55 hrs/85% so I think I've gotten worse at games!)

My daughter, who's had a degree in computer science for 25 years, posted this about ChatGPT on Facebook. It's the best description I've seen.

Something that seems fundamental to me about ChatGPT, which gets lost over and over again:

When you enter text into it, you're asking "What would a response to this sound like?"

If you put in a scientific question, and it comes back with a response citing a non-existent paper with a plausible title, using a real journal name and an author name who's written things related to your question, it's not being tricky or telling lies or doing anything at all surprising! This is what a response to that question would sound like! It did the thing!

But people keep wanting the "say something that sounds like an answer" machine to be doing something else, and believing it *is* doing something else.

It's good at generating things that sound like responses to being told it was wrong, so people think that it's engaging in introspection or looking up more information or something, but it's not, it's only, ever, saying something that sounds like the next bit of the conversation.

The only thing ChatGPT ever does.

If you're not trans, I don't think I can fully explain how important this is.

It's so powerful that one of the most circulated science media publications in the world has come out and said "trans children are real and providing transition care improves their lives." That's groundbreaking.
