Diffusion MRI (dMRI) is a powerful tool to study white matter maturation. In our new preprint, we process and distribute a new resource of >24,000 ABCD dMRI scans using open source tools! We then evaluate how methods shape inferences about development.

Posting on behalf of Brendan:
Common feature selection practices may capture only the “tip of the iceberg” of distributed brain–behavior relationships
Specifically, typically discarded features can predict behavior just as well as top-ranked ones, yet produce diverging interpretations
🎓Recruiting Ph.D. students for Fall 2026!🎓
The Feilong Lab @sc.edu studies commonalities & differences across brains, and how they relate to cognition, language, & disorders.
We develop brain templates, improve hyperalignment, and compare human brains with monkey brains & DNNs.

New Perspective out in @natmentalhealth.nature.com! We consider why neuroimaging analyses struggles to predict adolescent mental health, discuss approaches for improving prediction, and provide open-source implementations and tutorials: www.nature.com/articles/s44...
Our latest work looking at the neuroanatomical basis of impulsivity in youth is out now in Molecular Psychiatry!
The CANDLab at Yale is hiring a new full-time research assistant! Excellent opportunity to gain post-bacc experience before applying to PhD programs in child and adolescent clinical psychology and neuroscience. 🧠 candlab.yale.edu/sites/default/files/downloads/YaleCANDLab_RA_2026.pdf
Very happy that this paper from our lab is now out in @pnas.org! What happens when the *same* person experiences the *same* information with a *different* interpretation? Nearly the whole 🧠—well, at least nearly all association cortex—changes how it represents that information! tinyurl.com/p8chj2j7
🚨 New preprint alert! 🚨 Transdiagnostic latent factor models of psychopathology are widely assumed to improve brain-behaviour associations. So we decided to test this directly and found that they don't. A short 🧵

Super cool work from @omriraccah.bsky.social!
Excited to share our latest paper in which we discuss merging theory-and data- driven computational psychiatry in a large transdiagnostic cohort study (N=2400)

Peer review would be easier if we stopped treating it like combat with the authors. Results want to be free, and perfect is the enemy of good. Do the data support the conclusions? If so, that’s enough. A paper isn’t a blank slate for projecting your own ideas.
We're hiring! The Emotion and Psychopathology in Context Lab at Harvard invites applications for a full-time RA/lab manager to start in 2026 summer. Ideal for students preparing for graduate study (e.g., clinical psych). Please consider sharing & applying! jobs.smartrecruiters.com/HarvardUnive...

Honored to have been part of this work synthesizing 10 years of adolescent mental health research with the ABCD Study.
1/7 Can infants recognise the world around them? 👶🧠 As part of the FOUNDCOG project, we scanned 134 awake infants using fMRI. Published today in Nature Neuroscience, our research reveals 2-month-old infants already possess complex visual representations in VVC that align with DNNs.
🚨 Job alert🚨 My former lab in Germany led by Daniel Schneider is recruiting a postdoc. Daniel’s research sits at the intersection of memory and attention, and the ideal candidate will have expertise in EEG and/or fMRI.

From Sam McDougle's love of music has sprung a focus on how people learn and get better at motor skills – an area he sees as sometimes neglected in cognitive neuroscience. Read a new Q&A with him, a preview of his #CNS2026 YIA talk:

New preprint alert🚨
We often rely on 0-10 scales to assess suicide urges in EMA and clinical settings. But we rarely ask a surprisingly important question:
What do these numbers mean?
In our new paper, we examine what these ratings mean and how consistently people use them.
