Every time Matt Damon takes on a period role he ends up looking like a third baseman for the Phillies.

If you're wondering whether the book might speak to you, a writer who is not me, then maybe you could ask the author of Dreyer's English.

The GOP entered this redistricting under the rather childish delusion they were going to gerrymander, and nobody would gerrymander them. In TX, MO, and a half dozen other states, they put their rather naive theory into operation. They sowed the wind, and now they are going to reap the whirlwind

Starting a mid-decade redistricting war only to end up with -1 seats is the same fine strategic genius and subtle grasp of game theory that brough us the Strait of Hormuz.

Remember, Democrats have repeatedly advanced measures to ban partisan gerrymandering and Republicans have voted against them time after time.

This is the game Republicans wanted to play. OK, then.

In the future the only remaining job will be “survivor on derelict spaceship.” People will spend their 9-5 workday battling Fleshwraiths and solving puzzles to hack open doors

Bluesky Disrupted by Sophisticated DDoS Attack Bluesky reported service outages last week due to a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack aimed at its systems.

Iran attacking Bluesky is just about the weirdest plot twist I could imagine. www.securityweek.com/bluesky-disr...

Southern Poverty Law Center indicted on charges that it fraudulently paid informants in extremist groups The head of the civil rights organization said the group was "outraged by the false allegations" leveled against it.

Let's be clear: The Trump Admin's vendetta against the SPLC is a sign of how impactful their work is.

The SPLC has been at the forefront of exposing some of America's most notorious hate groups, like the KKK. The fact that the Trump Admin feels threatened by that speaks volumes.

Scientists Found 5.6 Million Burrowing Bees Beneath a Cemetery in New York. The Group Is One of the Largest on Record Researchers in Ithaca estimated the number of ground-nesting bees emerging from a local cemetery in spring 2023, revealing just how abundant some understudied pollinators are

Extremely buried actual point:
"If we don’t preserve nest sites and someone paves over them, we could lose—in an instant—5.5 million bees that are important pollinators."

This Isn't Trading. It's Theft from Your Retirement. Someone keeps making perfectly-timed bets right before the President speaks. The victims are your pension, your 401(k), and the country I took an oath to defend.

Fifteen minutes before the President announced he was pausing strikes on Iran, somebody moved $500 million in oil futures. Somebody knew. Somebody told them. Or somebody is them.

It's open season for refusing AI There's been a wave of successful efforts to ban, reject and shut down AI.

If you want to understand the powerful backlash to AI, and why it's open season for refusing such projects, local data center movements are a great place to start. Especially since they've gone national.

X is a critical component of the regime’s communications and information control system.

Pro-democracy forces should boycott X because it’s not a neutral platform—it’s main purpose is spreading regime propaganda and discrediting pro-democracy actors.

This is advance warning to every state’s AG. These fringe “conservatives” (radicals) are coming for ballots in every state. The Stop The Steal movement was a pre-cursor to actually stealing elections. Read the whole piece then consider how we fortify polling locations. calmatters.org/investigatio...

Here's I think the problem for them -- the more narrative weight, the fewer people will care. Like, my kid used to be super into the Marvel movies but checked out pretty hard after Endgame, so if the movie demands too much, he won't even bother going to see it. If it's the sequel to 30 movies, oof.
