Year 1 teacher with a class with high SEN need.

Can I have your best brain breaks on YouTube please. Feel like I’m stuck in a rut!

One in five UK teachers suffering Physical abuse in schools.

Schools have interventions, enrichment, story time, 2 hours of PE, assemblies and all the other things to fit in.
So when you are thinking about designing your curriculum, think about leaving wriggle room, time to revisit, time to consolidate. Not every hour of the day needs to be jam packed...

6 months since the first elbow break and arm still isn’t “functional” but it’s got 85° range of motion and I can hold a 2kg dumbell.

Next part of my phased return to “my(?)” year 1 classroom. The supply teacher has been amazing. Lucky to have had her.

When did Beebots cost £81.59?

Absolutely ridiculous price.

Got up to 55° movement in elbow today.

Recovery is so incremental.
So close to 2 o’clock.
Would love to be at 3 o’clock.
Should be at 5 o’clock. 😠

Fallen out with my arm.

Monkey island was an adventure game that felt like a book and movie.

It was about a rubbish mighty pirate called Guybrush Threepwood.

You had to use verbs to interact with the world.

More proof that Bluey isn’t really for kids.

The takeaway episode still gives me stress dreams though

4 month wait for results…

Frustrating week.

No first days for me whilst I sit and slowly bend this stupid elbow. Every hour. 8-8.

Reckon I can get it to 50° which is progress but still rubbish.

Got to write some elbow goals to see what will and won’t be possible in the future.

Teacher guilt is high. Grrr

Waiting for a Dexa bone scan 🩻 when I should be in school inset eating biscuits and getting ready for the school year (but mostly eating biscuits)

An hour done on the recumbent bike for the first time. Feels a bit futile but good to move for an hour.

Elbow sore!

Despite being signed off with my elbow till October, I went into my class yesterday.

Binned a lot of my rubbish and junk and hopefully all set up for supply.

The guilt is unreal.

How have some of you cranked up 1k posts on here already? See the same people talking on here everytime I log on.

Sneakily quietly muting.

Frustrating day of elbow physio today.

Can bend my elbow 30° at most and need to get to 100°.

I now have 15 minutes of stretches to do every hour from 8am to 8pm.

4 hours a day… spent bending 🫣

First incline treadmill walk since arm break. Still a long way off doing a parkrun again but progress!

I’ve been really down with my broken elbow post surgery and not being able to do so many things.

Reluctantly I’ve been working through a “gratitude journal.”

I’m a month in and as much as I hate doing it, it might actually be helping.

3 things to be positive about each day.

😬

What’s your favourite story to read out loud to a KS1 class?

Love reading Anansi the Spider and us all doing the actions.

Love reading The book with no pictures too, especially to a class for the first time!

I really enjoyed Alien Romulus except for 2 bits really shook me out of it. I read somewhere that is was meant to be a cover version but it felt a bit of a parody at times.

Nosy Crow QR code audiobooks are amazing. My 4 year old has just scanned in NUTS IN SPACE and is following along.
