The idea that African Americans have no culture is not just racist, it’s wrong. But it persists precisely because so many profit from this ignorance.

The reason a lot of people don’t recognize Black culture is because it’s been extracted and repurposed for the profit of others. K-pop, rock & roll, and even “internet slang” come to mind.

Then came Little Richard, who just started singing faster. So fast, they literally couldn’t imitate him. Which is something a lot of Black artists have to do. Be so distinctive, so singular, you cannot be replaced. Which brings me to my point:

On the subject of African Americans having no culture, let’s talk about Little Richard. See, back in the 40s and 50s, when a Black artist had a super popular song, white radio stations would simply steal it and repackage it using white artists.
