This evening we've had supernumerary rainbows in the Bay Area.
Supernumerary rainbows are so cool because they are generated not only by dispersion (prism) like normal rainbows but also by interference (soap bubble) on top of that.
If you look closely, you'll see more colors after violet.π

If you were wondering what those bright flames were seen in this infrared view - those are RCS puffs to bring the capsule in an optimal landing orientation to reduce impact loading during splashdown #Artemis
I hate when fantasy films I made a long time ago begin to come true in real life.
The voyage of the Katrin neutrino detector through the streets of Karlsruhe made for some amazing images.

Don't you think we have a serious checks-and-balances gap here in the US?
It shouldn't be possible for a single maniac to take control of this much power so casually.
I mean, yeah, they are a bunch of maniacs, but all gathered around (and by) a single maniac.

Took me a while to track it down but for all the camera nerds asking the same question I did - high res version complete with EXIF data is here: images.nasa.gov/details/art0...
It was taken with a Nikon D5 with 14-24mm f2.8 lens, 1/4 sec at f4, ISO 51200
A full disc image of Earth, as seen from the Orion Crew Module. The planet is a pale blue, swirling with white clouds and glowing slightly lighter blue in place from reflected light. At lower left, a large brown landmass is Africa, with Spain and Portugal with twinkling lights where the planet curves. At top right, auroras glow in a thin green glow, just barely separated from the planet's surface. Earth is set against the black of space (pic: NASA/R.Wiseman)
More context on this #Artemis II image:
* This is the night side, lit by moonlight. You can see city lights in Spain & Portugal, & a sliver of day at lower right
* The Sun is entirely behind Earth, which makes it a kind of solar eclipse, but w/ Earth doing the eclipsing instead of the Moon:

Another massive battery storage record in California (CAISO) yesterday, March 29 π
At 7pm, batteries reached 12.3 GW of output, meeting 42.8% of demand!
And it's not just a short peak anymore. Batteries stayed above 20% of grid supply from 5.50pm to 9.35pm, almost four hours.

The TC-2 computer was used on the A-7 Corsair II aircraft. The computer is a gray box, a bit under a cubic foot. It has round military-style connectors on the front, as well as a black fan. It has stencilled text: "Caution: Weight over 60 pounds", "Grip Area Underneath". The fan has a red warning label: "No step. No lift. High temperature." Photo courtesy of Alex1970-14.
The AP-101S is the upgraded Space Shuttle computer. It is a rectangular metal box with U-shaped metal handles on the front, as well as round military-style connectors. The cover is removed, revealing about a dozen large circuit boards inside, as well as a large bundle of yellow and black wires.

But the most interesting part was me liking their music a lot. π€―

Fun fact: the rover would be able to drive perfectly fine even if the inner 2/3 of the wheel rim totally breaks off. There is enough toque in the wheel motors to pull the entire rover up a vertical wall if only one of them was operating. It could drive fine if the wheels were square.
